Tonight AEW celebrates Tag Team Wrestling with their ‘Tag Team Appreciation Night’ on Dynamite.
The company already has a load of incredible Tag Teams to their disposal, but in the world of Pro Wrestling there are still a lot of teams that would thrive on the big stage.
Not only would some encounters be certified dream matches, but the AEW Tag Team environment also allows them to shine brighter than they ever did before.
Which elite gems are out there right now for AEW to take advantage of? Let’s take a look.
5. Pretty Bastards (Prince Ahura & Maggot)

The team arrived in Germany’s westside Xtreme wrestling in 2017 and raised eyebrows quite quickly.
After their debut for the company, the tag team combination from Frankfurt won the prestigious wXw World Tag Team Festival in 2019, defeating the Arrows of Hungary as well as WWE NXT Tag Team Oney Lorcan and Dunny Burch in the finals.
They are still the wXw World Tag Team Champions as of this writing, only briefly dropping the belts earlier this year.
Prince Ahura and Maggot, who are also part of a stable alongside Norman Harras, NXT UK Star Oliver Carter, and wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion Bobby Gunns, are an absolute killer act, that shines via awesome story-telling as well as highly-entertaining in-ring action.
Yet to be tested on national tv, the duo would turn heads for sure.
4. Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado)

In Kalisto’s absence the duo of Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik said to be the best luchador in WWE right now (apart from Rey Mysterio of course), were able to receive more air-time on SmackDown.
However, stuck with a hindering gimmick and a tag division that almost does not exist, they will never reach their full potential.
Fellow luchadores Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr. on AEW TV served for one of the greatest matches in the history of the company, save to say Dorado and especially Metalik would thrive in an environment with fewer rules and more Lucha.
The two are currently feuding for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, if given some time, a wider audience may have the chance to finally see what they are really capable of.
3. The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander)

Page and Alexander made their Impact Wrestling debut in 2019 and won gold shortly after in July that very same year.
In order to call themselves champions they were able to knock off Santana and Ortiz, a team they could encounter again in AEW, now known as ‘Proud and Powerful’.
The North would go down in Impact/TNA history as the longest-reigning Tag Team Champions of all time, only dropping the titles in July 2020.
But Ethan Page and Josh Alexander are not done just yet. The North and another AEW team even expressed their wish for a match on social media lately.
The wonderful technical wrestling skills by both gentlemen are rounded up by Ethan Page’s insane amount of charisma. A serious threat for AEW Tag Team Champions Kenny Omega and Adam Page.
2. Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley)

Do I need to say more? Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley. Arguably one of the greatest tag teams of all time.
The current and two-time Impact Tag Team Champions have been part of the most amazing tag team matches that have ever been televised.
After over a decade as a tag team and multiple unfortunate breaks during their run, fan love is still just as strong as in the beginning.
To see the MCMG having that one run in front of a huge worldwide audience that AEW provides would only do justice for a team that has such an amount of talent to their disposal and is still going strong after so many years.
1. Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis)

Before Mark Davis received the unfortunate news of a torn ACL last year, Aussie Open has been dominating Europe’s tag division like barely any team before them.
From 2017 to 2019 Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis have collected tag team gold in ATTACK!, HOPE, Defiant, PROGRESS, wXw and RevPro.
In the last two years, the team was even able to make appearances for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Their receipt for success? Two very different styles of power and technique mixed together for one spectacular tandem.
As soon as Mark Davis is back and ready to go, there should be no stopping to their ascension to worldwide fame. However, who will capitalize first WWE, New Japan, or AEW?
If AEW wants to add to a team that does not take itself too seriously, while meaning serious business in the ring, that should strike before someone else does.
