AEW Forbidden Door 2024 is almost here, and given the fact that the entire event is built off unexpected appearances and crossovers you better bet the event on June 30 will be no different.
Five years ago I stepped through the Forbidden Door and landed right here on WrestleTalk’s website.
This makes for the perfect timing to list the five craziest surprises for AEW’s 2024 edition of the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
It is certainly the craziest time of the entire AEW calendar as wrestlers that you usually do not see on American ground show up.
Mixed with the crazy world full of sickos that is AEW television this makes for a molotov cocktail full of possible shock moments… Much like this…
5. Adam Cole Is Cleared To Wrestle
The last thing we heard about Adam Cole is that he is nearing the 100% in his on-going recovery.
Forbidden Door could be the perfect time to bring him back full-time, and his stable, the Undisputed Kingdom, is struggling without him.
It is clear that a lot of stories were connected to the master of the boom and his return should help to kickstart the summer season for AEW.
Maybe he is the one to challenge Jeff Cobb for the NJPW World Television Title?
Or maybe he gets involved in MJF’s match with Hechicero… Who knows?

4. Scott Norton Honors His Friend Owen Hart
New Japan Legend Scott Norton and Owen Hart go way back.
The First Round of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament starts at AEW Forbidden Door.
If timed correctly, this could lead to a heartfelt moment to have someone connected to NJPW speak a few words about Owen.
Also, we all know Bryan Danielson would love to interact with Scott Norton, who he teamed with in Japan way back in the day.

3. EVIL & House Of Torture Attack In The Main Event
This is surely going to happen. EVIL and his henchmen are only going to wait for so long until they strike.
The group has never been featured at a Forbidden Door event and this won’t sit well with the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
Additionally, Jack Perry, a member of The Elite, is connected with The House of Torture, therefore it should be much easier to open the Forbidden Door now.
Given what happened during the main event of WrestleKingdom this year and The Elite teasing Swerve Strickland, they could just release the hounds on the AEW World Champion.

2. Mayu Iwatani Challenges Athena
Did you think bringing EVIL was a crazy surprise?
What if AEW Forbidden Door features THREE Women’s Matches on the main card?
The Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena is destined for more and the IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani is just waiting for her next victim.
Both have not been featured on the AEW program before. However, after the match, everyone’s eyes have got to be opened wide.

1. Shane McMahon Is All Elite
According to Conrad Thompson on Jim Ross’ Grilling JR podcast, Shane has been in touch with several AEW stars about potentially joining the company.
While Tony Khan has outright denied that he’s ever had contact with Shane-O-Mac, the AEW President is never one to give much away is he?
We do not know what McMahon’s current status with WWE is after he suffered a gruesome injury at WrestleMania 39.
Nevertheless, the ‘best in the world’ showing up where the best wrestle sounds like a great idea.
Well, perhaps not for every fan but it would certainly make for a surreal moment and something to garner some much needed extra buzz for AEW.
Shane McMahon in segments with Jeff Jarrett and you have the greatest television program anyone could ask for…
Whether I’m being sarcastic or not is up for you to decide.
