With three separate championships to contest over, WWE’s tag team divisions on Raw, NXT and SmackDown are in need of some fresh meat.
Several names on the current roster are looking for a new direction and often entering the tag division can do wonders in turning around a talent’s fortunes.
As we enter the last quarter of the year, usually the slowest phase of the WWE calendar, creating some new alignments for a debut on Raw, SmackDown and NXT should make for some spicy TV.
Let’s take a look at five new allegiances that could come together and make an immediate impact.
5. Omos & Lexis King
‘Lexis King is a coward!’ I think this has been well-established on NXT.
The “King Of All Television” would be happy to team up with a force like Omos that he can hide behind.
Additionally, Omos has had nothing to do on WWE programming for the better part of two years.
Acting as the heavy and tag team partner of Lexis King could do wonders for both men.
NXT’s booker Shawn Michaels is no stranger to a big man/cocky small man combo either.
If Diesel & HBK worked, why not King & Omos?

4. Kiana James & Tiffany Stratton
Speaking of the gold brand, the combination of former NXT stars Kiana James and Tiffany Stratton is not a stretch at all.
James is currently not appearing on WWE TV having reportedly been removed from the active roster due to injury, while Stratton on the other hand is entangled in a partnership with WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax.
However, we all know this association won’t be lasting for long. As soon as Stratton cashes in her briefcase, Jax will realize “keeping your enemies closer” wasn’t the way to go.
Once Stratton pulls the trigger on Jax, she will need some protection, which could come via her old friend on NXT: Kiana James. While James is technically a Raw star, considering her inactivity on the show she could easily make the switch to SmackDown without much drama once she’s back healthy once again.

3. Drew McIntyre & Wade Barrett
Despite their near-physical altercation on this past Monday’s Raw, Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre have been friends for the majority of their respective careers.
Given their frosty meeting on Raw, few fans would expect an allegiance between the two. Neither would CM Punk, which sets up the possibility for exactly that to happen at WWE Hell in a Cell on October 5.
During his entrance at Bash in Berlin I was able to witness first-hand how over Wade Barrett still is with the crowd.
Maybe Bad News has a couple of matches left in him, side by side with his friend Drew McIntyre against CM Punk and whatever ally he can find on the Raw roster.

2. Braun Strowman & Bronson Reed
‘Big’ Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman are currently having one of the most physical rivalries in recent memory on Raw.
But what happens when the dust has settled?
As others have in the past, imagine those two rivals finding so much respect for each other along the way that they eventually team up?
The force they would create together would make them absolutely unstoppable and they would be very believable challengers for the WWE World Tag Team Championships on Raw.

1. Shinsuke Nakamura & AJ Styles
Former Royal Rumble winner Shinsuke Nakamura and multi-time WWE Champion AJ Styles haven’t featured on WWE programming in quite some time.
Given this fact, and their history together as rivals in Japan and WWE, maybe there is enough respect there to form a tag team. A new power trip, that the SmackDown tag division isn’t ready for.
Obviously, both men aren’t in their prime anymore and their time in the main event seems to have come to an end, but anyone that’s watched either men’s recent matches knows they still have plenty to give.
A duo of this magnitude would help elevate the tag titles in the current pecking order of SmackDown and would give The Bloodline’s Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa some real formidable challengers.
