AEW’s crossover PPV with New Japan Pro Wrestling – Forbidden Door – takes place this weekend — and for the first time, it will be held in the UK.
Nine matches are currently announced for the main card, which appears to be complete, but it’s almost certain that additional bouts will be added to the Zero Hour pre-show.
Here are five potential last-minute matches to be added to AEW Forbidden Door 2025.
5. The Don Callis Family vs. TMDK
Don Callis Family member Konosuke Takeshita recently celebrated victory in NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament — the grueling month-long round-robin competition.
Winning pro wrestling’s most prestigious tournament guarantees Takeshita a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, currently held by Zack Sabre Jr.
While that match won’t take place at AEW’s Forbidden Door — with Sabre Jr instead defending against Nigel McGuinness — we could see Takeshita’s Don Callis Family take on members of Sabre Jr’s TMDK faction.
We could yet see a eight-man bout added, with Takeshita teaming with Josh Alexander, Rocky Romero, and Trent Beretta against Ryohei Oiwa, Bad Dude Tito, Kosei Fujita, and Robbie Eagles.

4. Tomohiro Ishii & Taichi vs. The Gates of Agony
Despite recently moonlighting in AEW, Tomohiro Ishii is one half of NJPW’s IWGP Tag Team Champions alongside Taichi.
The champions have yet to have a title defence announced for Forbidden Door — but that could still change.
Ricochet and the Gates of Agony have recently formed a faction, receiving a significant push on AEW programming and impressing with a string of standout in-ring performances.
A Zero Hour title bout between the two teams could be one of the sleeper matches of the entire card.

3. Sky Flight vs. United Empire
New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s United Empire has remained active even after leader Will Ospreay left the promotion in early 2024.
The faction currently features Ospreay’s highly touted protégé, 22-year-old Callum Newman, and with Newman himself being British and the show taking place in the UK, it seems likely we’ll see the group represented on the card.
One intriguing option would pit Newman alongside Great O’Khan and Francesco Akira against AEW’s newly formed Sky Flight — Scorpio Sky and Top Flight.
The trios clash could deliver fast-paced, high-flying, and technical action to open the show at London’s O2 Arena.

2. Hontai vs. La Facción Ingobernable
Yuya Uemura is one of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s most talented in-ring workers and most over stars, though his push in Japan has yet to fully reflect his popularity or ability.
While not currently announced for Forbidden Door, the 30-year-old is in the UK this weekend wrestling for RevPro — the country’s biggest indie promotion and an AEW partner — at their Anniversary shows.
That presence makes it seem highly likely he’ll also feature on AEW’s Forbidden Door card.
We could see him team with fellow Hontai members — the uber-charismatic IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion El Desperado and Boltin Oleg — in a mouth-watering trios bout against La Facción Ingobernable’s Rush, Beast Mortos, and Dralístico.

1. The Opps vs. Bullet Club War Dogs
The one AEW title not currently scheduled to be defended at Forbidden Door is the Trios Championships.
That could change, however, as a bout has already been teased.
On the 20 August edition of Dynamite, Trios Champions The Opps — Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata — brawled with Bullet Club War Dogs members Drilla Moloney, Robbie X, and Clark Connors in the opening melee.
A Trios Title clash between the two sides looks the most likely addition to Sunday’s stacked card.
