As it has been reported in the last couple of months, WWE SmackDown on the USA Network might be increased to three hours soon.
If you thought we finally got rid of three hour TV wrestling shows, you might be getting tearful eyes already.
But fear not, this is a new age in WWE and the new Triple H-led regime might be able to make three hours feel special each week.
We do not know when exactly SmackDown is getting blown up to three hours, but with enough preparation, the extra hour could benefit the product.
Let’s see what WWE could do to make a longer episode of SmackDown work.
5. More Giovanni Vinci

Giovanni Vinci has not been featured in a WWE SmackDown ring in the last two weeks.
Whatever the plans are for the talented Italian athlete, a longer SmackDown could help Vinci to get the TV time he needs to tell his story.
In addition, there may finally be time to get the full NXT 2.0 entrance on the program that certainly helped him connect with the crowd back then.
Ultimately, Vinci just serves as an example here for many underused characters that could benefit from more TV time.

4. Women’s United States Championship

The long-rumoured women’s midcard championships could finally have room to arrive on the main roster.
A female equivalent to LA Knight’s United States Championship could only be properly established with more time on air.
Naturally, adding another 60 minutes to the show could do the trick with more time for women’s matches overall.
In addition, the championship could be crowned in a tournament, giving a lot of women time to shine that don’t appear particularly regularly on the blue brand.

3. Longer Matches

If the match series between Andrade and Carmelo Hayes has shown us one thing, it’s that great wrestling gets you over.
Both men elevated each other tremendously with long matches on network television.
Logically, this should only lead WWE to one decision; more TV time equals more time for wrestling.
Instead of doing a long drawn-out Grayson Waller Effect segment, let talent go out there and go 15-20 minutes in the second hour.

2. Call Up NXT Talent

More time means more room for talent.
Honestly, some talent on NXT is ready for a call-up. Like The D’Angelo Family, Axiom & Nathan Frazer or Wes Lee, just to name a few.
Likewise, the talent is hungry and ready for a new challenge, mixing it up with some SmackDown names.
Be honest, Wes Lee vs. Cody Rhodes would be a great match. Boost up the show with some young blood.

1. More Representation

In recent times WWE has been criticised for using not enough Black talent on their main roster major shows.
Triple H’s response when asked about the issue after Bad Blood was that he “doesn’t see colour” and “only sees talent”.
More TV time naturally allows more talents from all backgrounds to shine and this should be the main reason why we should welcome another hour of SmackDown TV.
A more diverse roster with more opportunities can only ever be a good thing.
