5 Changes To WWE SmackDown Roster

WWE has yet to hold its annual roster draft in 2025, with it now September and not even being teased on television, it looks increasingly unlikely that it will be held this year.

That doesn’t mean, however, that roster changes won’t happen before the end of the year — WWE has often moved stars between brands without a formal draft, as we saw with Sami Zayn recently joining Smackdown.

Here are five potential changes that could shake up SmackDown before 2025 is over.

5. Melo Don’t Miz Split

Since returning to WWE after filming the reboot of American Gladiators, The Miz has been back on SmackDown teaming with Carmelo Hayes.

However, the partnership looks to be not long for this world, with Hayes growing increasingly frustrated with The Miz’s behaviour in recent weeks.

Hayes has also just returned to NXT, reuniting with his old partner Trick Williams, with the two set to face DIY together next week.

It seems only a matter of time before Smackdown loses one of its tag teams.

4. Damian Priest Moves To Raw

Recent months have seen former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest appearing lost in the shuffle on SmackDown.

Since wrapping up his long-term featured feud with Drew McIntyre in May, Priest hasn’t appeared on a WWE PLE.

He has recently been involved in a television feud with Aleister Black, which has produced solid matches but doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

A move back to Raw could be exactly what the 43-year-old needs to regain significant storyline direction.

3. Bayley Switches Brands

Bayley has been absent from in-ring action on Raw in recent weeks.

However, the 36-year-old has been involved in a storyline that sees her battling an inner crisis, torn between her old “Hugger” persona and the darker, heel Bayley.

A character change seems imminent with signs pointing toward another heel turn.

That shift could also bring a change of scenery, with Bayley moving to SmackDown to challenge WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.

2. Ethan Page Called Up To Smackdown

Last month SmackDown star Chelsea Green appeared on NXT to team up with fellow Canadian Ethan Page.

At the Heatwave PLE, the duo defeated Tavion Heights and Tyra Mae Steele in a mixed tag match.

The pairing was hugely over with the crowd, sparking reports of backstage discussions about bringing Page up to the main roster alongside Green.

It now looks likely that Ethan Page will soon become the newest addition to WWE SmackDown.

1. GUNTHER Makes Move To Smackdown

GUNTHER dropped the WWE World Heavyweight Title to CM Punk on Night One of SummerSlam and has not been seen on WWE programming since.

The Raw star is currently sidelined, requiring surgery after suffering a nose injury.

Upon his return, we could well see the 38-year-old moved to SmackDown.

With Cody Rhodes in need of fresh challengers for the Undisputed WWE Championship, GUNTHER would be a natural fit for that role.
