5. AEW World Championship Four-Way

While the feuds leading up to the upcoming AEW Worlds End seemed to be headed in one direction, by the time AEW Dynamite wrapped on December 17 — there was an intriguing development.

During a contract signing segment on Dynamite, MJF returned to reveal his intention to use his Casino Gauntlet winning contract to add himself to the upcoming bout.

A potential title bout that could go down on the Zero Hour of the broadcast set for Saturday, December 27 is an AEW World Trios Title match.

While Samoa Joe reigns as the AEW World Champion, The Opps also hold the AEW Trios Championship.

With the trio of Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata holding the titles, the addition of HOOK could see them defending the trios titles but without the champ having to do double duty on the night.

Potentially a loss for The Opps early in the show could spell an ominous warning about what could be ahead for Joe in the main event.

2. Kazuchika Okada Fails To Make Continental Classic Finals

While Kazuchika Okada is the current AEW Continental Champion, it isn’t a mathematical certainty that he will make the finals of this year’s tournament.

With Worlds End set to host the Blue League winner vs. Gold League runner-up and Gold League winner vs. Blue League runner-up in the semi-finals at Worlds End as well as the two winners going on to face off in the finals later that night — there are a lot of moveable pieces left before the end.

However with others already out to a strong showing in the tournament, it could be possible that Okada ends up missing the final entirely.

With the Continental Championship on the line in a bout where he isn’t defending, there could be an interesting first-time story to be told through the annual AEW tournament.

1. AEW Women’s Championship Match Becomes Triple Threat

However with plenty of other top names in the women’s division still without a bout at AEW Worlds End, perhaps we could see the title match add a third.

Since Kris Statlander has recently teamed with Jamie Hayter against the Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart and Skye Blue) there could be a reason to see a four-way come to the AEW Women’s Championship as well.

If not Hart & Blue, certainly others like Megan Bayne, Marina Shafir or even a returning Britt Baker or Hikaru Shida could be make for intriguing surprise additions to the match.

With the men’s championship set to to see a four-way match for the title, perhaps in the end the AEW Women’s Championship bout is still set to expand ahead of Worlds End.
