5 Biggest Moments From wXw World Tag Team Festival 2022 Weekend

It is wXw’s second biggest wrestling festival of the year.

While March’s 16 Carat Cold highlights the greatest singles wrestlers in the world, in autumn the German promotion calls for the world’s greatest tag teams.

This past weekend it was time for their annual wXw World Tag Team Festival.

From all over the world fans and talent arrived to take part in the 4-day festival.

wXw saw themselves in a tough spot with the ongoing inflation and strong cards by NJPW and 1PW also taking place in Europe that very same weekend.

However, over the weekend the promotion created many memorable moments that left the majority of fans happy, five of which you can find here…

5. Aliss Ink Wins wXw Femmes Fatales ’22 And Dethrones Baby Allison

The second day kicked off with wXw’s traditional Femmes Fatales tournament, highlighting the best female performers around the globe.

Eventual winner Aliss Ink challenged wXw Women’s Champion Baby Allison the very next day.

Now former champion Allison is dating current wXw Shotgun Champion Maggot.

Maggot competed in the tag team tournament during the weekend.

However, his tag partner Ahura attended a real-life wedding on the 2nd day of the tournament, thus leaving Maggot alone and losing a Handicap Match in the 2nd round.

These frustrations carried over to his girlfriend Baby Allison, who then lost her title to Aliss Ink.

4. Levaniel Ensures His Shot At The wXw World Title

Levaniel is one of the fastest-rising stars in European wrestling.

With his Shortcut To The Top Rumble Match victory in August, he got himself a shot at Tristan Archer’s wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship.

Unfortunately for Levaniel though, Archer was busy elsewhere on the card, defending against Speedball Mike Bailey.

In addition, wXw’s Director of Sports, Norman Harras, paid off Dante Caballero and Joe Keys to make Levaniel’s weekend a living hell.

Thankfully Levaniel fought through and will now face Tristan Archer at December’s Anniversary event.

When Abe and Irie took on Dominic Garrini and Kevin Ku of Violence Is Forever, fans already expected a great match.

Nobody could have predicted the brutality and awesomeness that unfolded in front of everyone’s eyes.

In what will probably go down as one of the greatest tag team matches of the year, the four wrestlers unleashed unbelievable violence on each other.

At one point a thunderous headbutt was delivered, which left Kevin Ku with a bloody forehead for the remaining days of the World Tag Team Festival.

Hungary used to be the insider tip of the European wrestling scene.

But over the past few years, the Hungarian wrestling promotions HCW and Passion Pro Wrestling have exploded onto the scene.

Led by experienced tag team legend Icarus, once again Hungary was able to make an impact this past weekend.

While the likes of Orsi, Iva Kolasky, Icarus, and Gulays Junior were entertaining the fans all weekend one name stood tall above them all with awe-aspiring performances all weekend.

Peter Tihanyi has become a celebrated star in the scene, finishing an impactful weekend with a brilliant match against Speedball Mike Bailey.

This year’s wXw World Tag Team Festival was contested in a Round Robin system.

Former champions Rott & Flott lost their titles by being unable to add enough points to their team.

The finals were then contested between the Austrian-Hungarian connection of Amboss (Robert Dreissker & Icarus), who were defeated by Senza Volto & Aigle Blanc from France.

The match itself initially saw a double count-out finish, which led to the head referee restarting the match under Tornado Rules.

By winning the tournament Volto & Blanc edged their names in the history of tag team wrestling and closed a fantastic wrestling weekend in Oberhausen, Germany.
