5 AEW Championships To Be Redesigned

It is a time-honoured tradition in pro wrestling for championship belts to be redesigned, with new titles periodically introduced.

Currently, across AEW and the wider Khan-verse in ROH, there are 17 active championships.

Sooner rather than later, one or several of these belts will likely be updated or completely redesigned.

The question is – which one will be first?

5. Tag Team Championship

The Hurt Syndicate have been AEW Tag Team Champions for seven months, first winning the titles from Private Party on 2 January.

For over half a year, they’ve dominated the division – with some even arguing that their modern-day take on The Road Warriors has made them appear too dominant.

The tag titles themselves remain the very same design introduced back in 2019, when SCU became the inaugural champions.

Given their level of control over the division, could we see an angle where MVP unveils a new belt design to reflect their reign?

4. TNT Championship

The All In: Texas card had to be changed at the last minute when TNT Champion Adam Cole was unable to compete, leading to him forfeiting the title.

The originally scheduled one-on-one bout between Cole and Kyle Fletcher – which likely would have marked Fletcher’s coronation – was turned into a four-way, with the feel-good moment of Dustin Rhodes capturing the title.

Rhodes’ sentimental reign is likely to be short-lived, with original plans for Fletcher eventually playing out – and if so, we could very well see the despised heel redesign the look of the belt.

In a move reminiscent of the Intercontinental Title reigns of Ultimate Warrior and Shawn Michaels, Fletcher could change the strap colour, switching it to the electric pink that matches his gear.

3. ROH Women’s World Title

Athena has been ROH Women’s World Champion for nearly 1,000 days – making her the longest-reigning champion in the 23-year history of the promotion.

During her reign, she’s held three different versions of the title, including a short-lived spinner design introduced on ROH programming in October 2024.

Given the historic nature of her reign, a final redesign to replicate the look of the original men’s ROH World Championship – held by the likes of Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson during their iconic runs – would be a fitting tribute.

With Athena now appearing full-time on the AEW roster and likely to drop the ROH title soon, could we see one final belt redesign before her reign ends?

2. Women’s World Heavyweight Championship

One of the early controversies in AEW’s history was the original design of the Women’s World Championship.

Many fans criticised the belt for being too small in comparison to the men’s World Title.

Those concerns were addressed when a new design was unveiled by Britt Baker at Revolution 2022 – but with Toni Storm’s current reign arguably the most important in the title’s history, it may be time for another update.

Could we soon see a custom “Timeless” version of the AEW Women’s World Title belt?

1. World Heavyweight Championship

At All In: Texas, AEW fans were finally given the moment they had waited nine months for, as Hangman Page defeated Jon Moxley to become AEW World Champion.

The nearly 30,000 fans inside Globe Life Field erupted rapturously as Hangman opened the briefcase that had imprisoned the AEW World Title, raising it high above his head.

In what had seemed, at times, like a bizarre piece of storytelling, keeping the belt hidden only made its re-emergence as a visual symbol even more powerful.

Given that Hangman’s title win felt like the start of a new chapter for the company, could we soon see that moment marked by a newly designed AEW World Championship?
