3 Reasons MJF Should Join WWE, And 3 Reasons He Shouldn’t

Following the return of Cody Rhodes, we previously mentioned how several AEW stars could join him in jumping over to WWE in the future.

One name who has always brought up the possibility of jumping over to WWE is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, better known as MJF.

MJF has been absent from AEW TV since June 1, but is reportedly set to make his return “somewhat soon”. Even if he does return though, his contract is still up at the start of 2024 as far as we know.

When that time comes around, here are three reasons MJF should join WWE, but also three reasons why he should stay in AEW.

Should Stay In AEW: 3. Still A Lot Left To Achieve

Despite his incredible feuds against Cody Rhodes, Chris Jericho, and most recently CM Punk and Wardlow, Maxwell has yet to win gold in AEW.

Given his attitude and overall fantastic work, the World Championship is the one he should be after.

With former rival CM Punk now on top of the division, a potential retelling of their story over the biggest prize in the company would be an easy one to tell.

MJF being a world champion in AEW is only a matter of time… If he gives the company that time.

Should Join WWE: 3. Money

Obviously. WWE is, by far, the most profitable company in the industry and has been for many many years.

In fact, they get more and more financially successful every year. Of course, they would be able to pay MJF whatever he desires.

More money means a more secure life for himself in the end. So he just might take the offer.

Should Stay In AEW: 2. Brand Loyalty

While the new WWE regime has reportedly led to a lot of optimism, with many seeing the backstage environment as an improvement over the Vince McMahon led company.

However, MJF found his footing in AEW, who truly gave him his big break on a national scale after his previous stints in MLW and other independents.

Tony Khan seems like an easy going boss, and he’d likely respect that loyalty to the brand, and reward MJF for it.

Should Join WWE: 2. Fame

Something that no other company in the world ever can offer: The WrestleMania Moment.

The biggest stage, the brightest lights, and by far the most eyes, are on WrestleMania each year.

Competing in WWE is one thing, but having the chance to headline the show of shows? Incredible for every single talent has that ever stepped into a ring.

A WWE run oftentimes makes a wrestler’s career memorable. Whether you like it or not.

WWE also often opens the door to Hollywood and beyond. If that’s something MJF wants to get into, maybe WWE is the best route to take.

Should Stay In AEW: 1. Creative Freedom

Over the years WWE has developed a strict protocol for behavior, storytelling, and even for cutting promos. Promos are probably MJF’s biggest selling point. His biggest strength.

And while the new regime in WWE has reportedly led to a loosening up of promos, WWE is still a publicly traded company that has shareholders and sponsors to listen to, so MJF would probably still need some toning down.

That leads to the question of whether the MJF we know can even work in the ‘sports entertainment’ world.

Would the transition really be that easy?

Should Join WWE: 1. Wrestling His Childhood Heroes

With the epic CM Punk storyline, MJF probably did his finest work yet.

It showed how much of a WWE fan MJF was – and still is.

Having the honor to wrestle the likes of Randy Orton, John Cena, Edge, Brock Lesnar, and other legends probably sounds very intriguing.

And obviously, we need to see a program with The Miz, right?!
