WWE’s current plans for the two men’s world championship matches have now been revealed following Survivor Series 2025.
Last night saw WWE host its final Premium Live Event of 2025, as the 39th annual Survivor Series took over Petco Park in San Diego, CA.
As has become tradition in the Triple H era of WWE, Survivor Series once again hosted WarGames matches for the men’s and women’s rosters, with the men’s match closing the show.
The finish of the match saw the heel team of Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre & Brock Lesnar come out on top, with Breakker pinning World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk following an assist from a mystery masked individual.
After the bell, Punk’s teammate Roman Reigns helped him to his feet, but the same mutual respect didn’t seem to be entirely there when “The OTC” came face-to-face with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, as the two former foes sharing a tense face off as the show went off the air.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer is reporting that both the men’s WarGames match finish, and the post match angle will both be followed up on with a pair of major world title matches at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
Revealing that Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns and CM Punk and Bron Breakker are currently planned for the “Grandest Stage of Them All”, Meltzer said:
“Punk getting pinned, that finish was there to tell the story. Like I said the other day, the whole thing when we come out of this match, the idea is we’re supposed to know WrestleMania which is Cody and Roman and Punk and Bron Breakker are the championship matches.”
Meltzer’s co-host Bryan Alvarez would then ask if WWE were actually planning to Reigns vs. Rhodes for a third time in four years at WrestleMania, to which Meltzer replied:
“That’s the plan as of today yeah.”
While Punk’s attacker inside WarGames was not unmasked, a new report has revealed their identity – click here for full details.
