John Cena has provided a major update on his status and plans for the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble 2025 premium live event.
As announced, Cena made the first appearance of his ‘farewell tour’ during tonight’s January 6 episode of Raw – the Netflix premiere edition of the show.
While Cena initially attempted to temper fans’ expectations regarding a potential 17th world title win some time this year, he had changed his tune by the end of his promo.
Cena initially said a 17th world title win was “never gonna happen”, before switching to suggesting that you can “never say never” in WWE and that “it would take a miracle”, acknowledging there was at least a small chance.
That small chance, as noted by Cena, could come in the form of winning Money in the Bank, winning Elimination Chamber, or… winning the Royal Rumble.
Upon that realization, John Cena declared himself for the Rumble match, making him the first person to do so this year.
Also announced for the February 1 WWE Royal Rumble PLE is a ladder match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
