WWE Hall of Famer Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts has revealed he has re-signed with WWE following his AEW departure.

The Hall of Famer made his debut in AEW back in March 2020, where he cut a promo on Cody Rhodes, telling the American Nightmare that he had found a new client to face off against Cody, which ended up being Lance Archer.

Jake would spend the next few years making sporadic appearances on AEW television, with several different clients, until he revealed back in July this year that he had departed the company.

Roberts had previously been under a WWE legends contract even during his time with AEW, with him appearing in WWE video games as recently as WWE 2k25.

Jake’s career in AEW

After debuting in the company as the manager for Lance Archer, he and Jake would make sporadic appearances together in the coming years up until October 2024, where he would trade contracts with Don Callis which saw Archer join forces with the Don Callis Family while Los Faccion Ingobernable were aquired by Roberts.

Roberts would not make another appearance alongside LFI, with them returning to television months later without Jake by their side.

Roberts would not appear on AEW television again before his departure in July.

WWE continues to sign legends deals

Over the past few years, WWE has been extra aggressive in terms of signing many of it’s legends and former stars to legends contracts with the company.

It was recently reported that Rey Mysterio himself had pitched for the company to sign the original Psicosis to a legends contract, with WWE President Nick Khan also paying for his hip replacement surgery.

Various other names have also confirmed they’ve signed legends deals, including Jesse Ventura, Lana (CJ Perry) and Necro Butcher.

The reason why WWE is suddenly signing many names to legends contracts is not entirely clear, but it has led to a number of interesting additions to the WWE video games, as well as seeing names from the past being honored.
