In response to a tweet from Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes made an announcement regarding his WWE WrestleMania 40 opponent choice.
After seemingly considering the option of selecting Seth Rollins and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for his challenge at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes has now revealed his next stop.
Straight to the stomping grounds of the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns!
Responding to a video posted by Rollins – where Rollins was narrating over his face-to-face with Rhodes from Raw saying “what’s in your heart?”, Rhodes wrote:
“I’ll be at #Smackdown this Friday”
While Rhodes didn’t elaborate on exactly what he would be doing at SmackDown, one could assume that it has something to do with Roman Reigns.
Cody Rhodes made history this week by winning back-to-back Royal Rumbles, a feat that has only been accomplished by an elite list of stars.
The only others to win back-to-back Rumbles are Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
We will have to stay tuned to find out who Cody Rhodes will select to face at WrestleMania 40 but he has been quite clear in the past.
Rhodes has previously noted that his ‘Finish the Story’ mantra is based around winning the WWE Championship, one of the two titles that are currently combined to comprise Roman Reigns’ current ‘Undisputed Universal WWE Championship’.
The other is the Universal Championship which was created in 2016 and has been held by Reigns for the last 1,249 days.
Rollins, on the other hand, has been trying to convince Rhodes to choose him instead of Reigns, citing the World Heavyweight Title as the “workhorse” title and even the “Dusty Rhodes” title compared to Reigns’.
