Who will be WWE Women’s World Champion heading into WrestleMania 43: Four stars who could headline the Show of Shows

WWE Women's World Championship belt

The WWE Women’s World Championship recently changed hands at a non-televised live event, with Stephanie Vaquer dethoning Liv Morgan in Santiago, Chile on September 12.

With there already being a lot of uncertainty surrounding the division, rumors have been swirling about future plans since WWE President Nick Khan indicated that the company is “already across” creative plans for WrestleMania 43, barring any injuries.

Following two Women’s World Title changes in 2026, many have been wondering how many more championship switches we’ll see on the road to WrestleMania, and who will compete in the Women’s World Championship match in Saudi Arabia.

So who will be champion as we enter WrestleMania 43 season? The main contenders include…

Stephanie Vaquer

Stephanie Vaquer in Women’s World Champion once again, defeating Liv Morgan in front of her home country crowd to become a two-time title holder.

Vaquer’s first reign with the gold lasted for 210 days, with the Chilean star winning the vacant title at Wrestlepalooza in September 2025, and dropping the gold to Morgan at WrestleMania 42 in April.

We could see Vaquer hold the championship through to April next year, and defend her gold in her second straight WrestleMania championship match.

Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch was actually the special referee for Morgan vs Vaquer in Santiago, and counted the fall which saw Stephanie Vaquer become Women’s World Champion.

With Lynch and Vaquer having chased Morgan since their Raw returns on August 3, tensions did arise between the duo ahead of the recent title change.

With Becky Lynch appearing to be a top contender for the Women’s World Championship, we could see The Man take the title before WrestleMania 43 rolls around.

Liv Morgan

Of course, it’s too early to count Liv Morgan out of WrestleMania 43.

The former titleholder has an impressive record in Saudi Arabia, with Liv Morgan winning the Women’s World Champion from Becky Lynch at King & Queen of the Ring 2024, ahead of becoming the inaugural Women’s Crown Jewel Champion at Crown Jewel 2024, and winning the Royal Rumble in January 2026.

With WWE teasing a Liv Morgan vs Roxanne Perez match for the future, it’s possible that this is the plan for WrestleMania, with Morgan set to win back the Raw women’s division’s top title.

Roxanne Perez

While Liv Morgan vs Roxanne Perez is rumored to be happening at WWE WrestleMania 43, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Morgan will be champion ahead of then.

Roxanne Perez may be Morgan’s protege within the Judgment Day, but with her mentor now empty-handed, we could be about to see Perez stretch her own wings.

If Perez reaches the top of the mountain ahead of WrestleMania, the company would have time to tell the story of Liv Morgan being jealous of the ex-NXT Women’s Champion.

Ultimately, as shown by the recent title change, there will be a lot of twists and turns in the Women’s World Championship division ahead of April 2027, so the road to WrestleMania will likely be an exciting one.
