5 More WWE Title Changes Coming Soon

Since Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque took over WWE creative, there has been a clear effort to restore prestige to the company’s championships.

That shift has seen longer and more meaningful reigns, moving away from the quick title changes that defined much of the past two decades under Vince McMahon.

The philosophy has worked – title changes now feel like significant events, celebrated as major moments by WWE’s fanbase – with the most recent example being Dominik Mysterio becoming AAA Mega Champion.

So, with that in mind, which championship could be the next to change hands? Here are five title changes that could be coming soon

5. AJ Lee Wins WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship

AJ Lee’s WWE return has been huge.

Appearing for the first time in over a decade, she has spiked ratings and drawn rapturous reactions from WWE’s fanbase.

Her in-ring comeback is set for Wrestlepalooza, teaming with husband CM Punk against Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, but it looks like her feud with Lynch will continue beyond the PLE.

Given the success of her return, it already feels almost certain that Lee will be the one to dethrone Lynch for the Intercontinental Title.

4. Stephanie Vaquer Wins Women’s World Title

At Wrestlepalooza, a new WWE Women’s World Champion is guaranteed to be crowned.

The blockbuster card sees IYO SKY face Stephanie Vaquer for the vacant title, following Naomi’s recent announcement that she is pregnant.

Vaquer has enjoyed a meteoric rise since arriving in WWE last year, becoming the first woman in history to hold both the NXT Women’s and North American Titles simultaneously, and, more importantly, capturing the adoration of the company’s fanbase.

The 32-year-old Chilean star is the bookies’ favourite and it seems likely WWE will put the championship on her rather than reverting back to former champion SKY.

3. Michin Defeats Giulia For Women’s US Title

SmackDown star Giulia’s reign as United States Champion may be heading for a premature end.

In recent weeks, the 31-year-old Japanese standout has been involved in an increasingly heated feud with Michin.

On the September 5 edition of SmackDown, Giulia defeated Michin thanks to a distraction from her partner, Kiana James; and the rivalry escalated the following week when Michin came to the aid of her own partner B-Fab, who was being attacked by Giulia and James – with Michin hitting James with a kendo stick in the process.

With the rivalry set to continue, there appears a real chance – though not a certainty – that Michin could dethrone the charismatic champion.

2. Tiffany Stratton Drops The WWE Women’s Championship To Jade Cargill

It looks like Tiffany Stratton’s WWE Women’s Title is heading into a three-way program.

On the September 12 SmackDown, Stratton and Jade Cargill went to a double count-out before being attacked by Nia Jax in the post-match, strongly hinting at a three-way for the belt either on TV or a PLE.

That direction has been further foreshadowed by the fact Stratton, Cargill, and Jax have been working three-way matches on WWE’s recent European house show tour.

And with the stipulation meaning Stratton wouldn’t need to be pinned to lose, this could be the moment for Cargill to finally capture the title.

1. Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre Win Women’s Tag Team Championship

Chelsea Green’s heel act has gotten massively over, not only on SmackDown but also in NXT, where she recently returned to team with her fellow Canadian, Ethan Page, in a mixed tag.

Alongside her Secret Hervice partner Alba Fyre, she is set to challenge the winners of Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs Izzi Dame & Tatum Paxley, who meet at this week’s NXT Homecoming show, for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title.

It seems safe to assume Flair and Bliss will retain on NXT, setting up a match against Green and Fyre in the upcoming weeks.

And it also looks likely that the super-over Green and Fire could capture the title – perhaps with an assist from Ethan Page, who has been rumored to be making the jump to the main roster to join Green.
