With several storylines still up in the air, there are some WWE stars that seem very likely to end up missing out on WrestleMania 42 entirely.
From stars that have yet to return from injury to others that have no storylines on the horizon, it could be that there are numerous WWE stars set to miss out on the big event.
Here are six WWE stars that seem likely to miss WrestleMania 42.
6. Chad Gable
While he made an appearance in the 2026 Royal Rumble as The Original El Grande Americano, there has yet to be an official return to action from the unmasked Chad Gable himself.
Building up a rivalry with the El Grande Americano who took over when Gable got injured – which is Ludwig Kaiser – it appears Gable, who was previously working as both Americano and as himself, will be completely occupied with wearing the mask for the time being.
WrestleMania season or even Mania itself could see an Americano vs Americano match between Gable and Kaiser with the loser, or both, getting unmasked.
If that happens, it would mark the official return of Gable and could lead to an American Made reunion with Ivy Nile and the Creed Brothers.

5. Bron Breakker
One star suddenly at risk of missing out on WrestleMania 42 is Bron Breakker who reportedly picked up an injury recently that could keep him out of action.
An announcement on WWE Raw on January 9 clarified that there could be a major shift in storylines coming soon.
With Bron Breakker being referenced on commentary by Michael Cole as being “out of action indefinitely,” it could be that the injury keeps the rising star away from this year’s big event.
While there could certainly be a return from Breakker to become a spoiler on the road to WrestleMania, it could be that The Vision member is truly set to miss out on Las Vegas this year.

4. Seth Rollins
Although there was a notable swerve featuring a faux injury from Seth Rollins in 2025, his 2026 absence has been very real.
While the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion ended up being forced to vacate his title due to injury, if he were to return it could make for a three-way rematch at WrestleMania 42 between Rollins, CM Punk and Roman Reigns, especially if Rollins’ planned opponent Bron Breakker is unavailable.
As a noted NFL fan, Rollins made numerous appearances surrounding this year’s Super Bowl event in San Francisco, but did not report any specific return dates.
While Rollins may end up being able to return to action in time for Las Vegas, it would certainly be a legendary bout to see the three fan favorites collide for a second straight year.

3. Bianca Belair
Last seen at last year’s WrestleMania 41, Bianca Belair picked up an injury that has kept her away from in-ring action.
After suffering a broken knuckle, Belair has yet to return to the ring almost a full year later.
While many fans expected to see a surprise return from the former Women’s Champion at the Royal Rumble, the event came and went without an appearance from The EST.
Potentially able to still make a return on the Road to WrestleMania, it would be a sad event for Bianca Belair to miss WrestleMania 42.

2. Chelsea Green
Another WWE star that could have picked up an injury recently that may prevent their appearance is Chelsea Green.
Despite remaining one of the most engaging and entertaining performers on the roster, Green could end up missing WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas after she picked up an injury in the ring.
With Green noting on social media that she was injured on SmackDown during an Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Tiffany Stratton and Giulia – which Stratton won – she would go on to not be able to compete in AAA the following night.
While her AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship partner Ethan Page soldiered on without her, his new team with La Hiedra fell and the duo lost the title to Mr Iguana and Lola Vice.

1. The Street Profits
A tag team that has been off TV for quite some time, The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) appeared recently in NXT live event action, but it isn’t clear what their plans could be for returning to the main roster.
While there could still be a multi-team match that comes to fruition for WrestleMania 42, there could be numerous teams left out of the plans.
With Jimmy Uso encouraging Jey Uso to return to his ‘main event’ ambitions on the January 9 edition of WWE Raw, it remains to be seen who the WWE or World Tag Team Champions may end up facing in Las Vegas.
