Shawn Michaels has headed up the WWE NXT brand since taking over for Triple H following his cardiac arrest in 2021.
Since then, NXT has gone through several different changes going from the 2.0 era to the current black and silver time period.
With many fans believing Michaels will eventually make the move to help Triple H book on the WWE main roster, it wouldn’t be surprising to see someone take over his post on NXT whenever that happens.
Here are six potential WWE replacements for Shawn Michaels.
6. Matt Bloom

In 2014, Matt Bloom, formerly known as Tensai and Prince Albert, made the decision to retire from in-ring competition and became a trainer at the WWE Performance Center.
Eventually being promoted to head trainer, Bloom has been an integral part of the development of so many different talents that have gone through the PC.
With his current role as NXT head coach, it would make a lot of sense if Bloom eventually takes over Shawn Michaels’ role as Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative.
While it is unknown if Bloom could fill this role successfully, it seems like a natural transition for someone who has worked so closely with Michaels and the NXT talent to be a suitable replacement.

5. Brian James

“Road Dogg” Brian James has played several different backstage and training roles with WWE dating back to the end of his in-ring career back in 2014.
Originally taking a role as a backstage producer, James made the transition to the writing team in 2018 where he was eventually promoted to head writer for SmackDown.
James has worked in the WWE Performance Center before he assuming the role as Senior Vice President of Live Events in 2022.
While he currently works as a co-head writer on the SmackDown brand, James could be just the person with enough experience to eventually replace Shawn Michaels as the head of NXT.

4. Rikishi

WWE has a power struggle going on behind the scenes between WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque and TKO Director of the Board Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Following the events of WrestleMania 41, both men have been looking to stake their claim to a top position within WWE and TKO Group Holdings.
With both legends wanting to put their friends and family in prominent roles, there is a possibility that The Rock might want someone closer to him as the head of NXT and not Triple H’s best friend, Shawn Michaels.
With his experience as the head trainer of his KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, The Rock’s cousin Rikishi could play a central role for his family and replace Shawn Michaels in his current position.

3. Booker T

Another WWE Hall of Famer that is currently a head trainer at their own wrestling school is Booker T.
Working very close with the current crop of NXT talent, Booker has the connection and experience necessary to eventually take over the brand in a top position.
Outside of his responsibilities at the Reality of Wrestling school, Booker T is also the color commentator next to Vic Joseph on weekly NXT TV.
Booker T eventually replacing Shawn Michaels would make a lot of sense with making a seamless transition to Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative.

2. The Undertaker

As one of the legends on the new “WWE LFG: Legends and Future Greats” show on A&E, The Undertaker has been the biggest name involved with the program.
The WWE Hall of Famer has been a support system for the PC recruits part of the show, such as Shiloh Hill, Elijah Holyfield, Tyra Mae Steele and Jasper Troy.
Showing that he has the patience, experience and mindset to work with the youth of the business, The Undertaker has been auditioning for a more important role down the line.
When it comes to name value and star power, The Undertaker seems like the perfect replacement for what Shawn Michaels offers in his role as head of NXT creative.

1. CM Punk

No one has been alluded to or discussed for the future position as head of NXT quite as much as CM Punk.
Since returning to WWE back at Survivor Series 2023, Punk has worked closely with the talent on the brand and several different Performance Center recruits.
Having the experience working all around the world, Punk might be one of the most valuable minds that could potentially take over the brand down the line.
With Shawn Michaels himself saying that he would excel in his position, it seems like a no-brainer that Punk would be the number one option to become the heir apparent to the throne on NXT whenever his in-ring career is over.
