At WrestlePalooza in September, WWE promoted its biggest mixed tag match in recent memory, pitting CM Punk and AJ Lee against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.
The feud between the two married couples got over big with the WWE audience; however, any plans to have Rollins and Lynch continue teaming were derailed by Rollins’ shoulder injury, which will keep him out of action.
Given the popularity of the match, WWE could look to lean further into the concept – establishing more mixed teams and having them wrestle across their main roster programming.
Here are six potential new WWE mixed tag teams.
6. Aleister Black & Zelina Vega

On the October 10 edition of SmackDown, Zelina Vega appeared during the Last Man Standing match between Aleister Black and Damian Priest, with her interference helping Black secure the victory.
Black and Vega are married in real-life, and as confirmed on the October 17 edition of SmackDown, they are now officially aligned in WWE storylines.
Could we see them begin competing together as a mixed tag team?
It certainly appears they will be continuing as a unit going forward.

5. Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae are another real-life married couple who are also aligned in WWE.
The pair are a long-time tag team, first teaming together back in 2015 on the indies.
Currently aligned on SmackDown along with Tommaso Ciampa, they’ve yet to compete in a mixed tag bout on the show – or on the main roster at all – with their last mixed tag match coming in January 2021 on NXT.
If mixed tag matches are going to become a regular feature of WWE programming, it’s almost certain that Gargano and LeRae will be a key part of that division.

4. Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green

Recent weeks on NXT have seen the WWE return of Matt Cardona, with the former Zack Ryder appearing as part of the ongoing NXT-TNA crossover storyline.
What’s been especially noticeable is just how over Cardona is with the NXT audience – increasing the likelihood that he’ll soon be fully brought back into the company’s fold.
If that happens, we could very well see him paired with his real-life partner Chelsea Green; the two had a memorable run together in indie promotion GCW back in 2021, showcasing their outstanding chemistry as a team and ability to generate heat.
There’s little doubt they’d be massively over as a pairing if placed on SmackDown.

3. The Miz & Maryse

The Miz and Maryse are another of WWE’s most famous married couples.
The pair are no strangers to mixed tag team action – as a duo of unlikable heel antagonists, they’ve historically served as the perfect foils for babyface pairings.
Over the years, they’ve clashed with Bryan Danielson and Brie Bella, John Cena and Nikki Bella, and with their most recent mixed tag bout coming in 2022 against Edge and Beth Phoenix.
If Maryse could be persuaded to return to the ring, the couple would likely feature as a central act in the mixed tag division.

2. Cody & Brandi Rhodes

On the subject of wrestling’s most famous married couples, there are few more well-known than Cody and Brandi Rhodes.
The pair have teamed together in mixed tag bouts on multiple occasions, most notably during their run in TNA back in 2016 – though interestingly, they never teamed while in AEW.
So, could a potential mixed tag division in WWE feature them pairing together?
It might be unrealistic right now – the couple have just celebrated the birth of their second child – but with that said, it certainly shouldn’t be ruled out for the future.

1. Logan Paul & Tiffany Stratton

Outside of potential mixed tag pairings built around real-life couples, there’s also room for mixed “super teams.”
One of the more compelling possibilities could be a partnership between Logan Paul and Tiffany Stratton.
The pair have shown they have a friendly relationship, including when Paul filmed himself backstage offering to give Stratton advice on improving her moonsault, and during Stratton’s appearance on the Impaulsive podcast.
While Stratton is currently positioned as a babyface, her character arguably works far better as a heel, and few performers are more naturally unlikable than Paul; together, they could be a standout act in any future mixed tag division.
