Upcoming AEW retirements after Adam Copeland: Who else will hang up their boots?

On the October 14 episode of AEW Dynamite and Collision, Adam Copeland announced that 2027 will be his last year in pro wrestling.

After announcing his retirement, some fans have started to look at the rest of the AEW roster to figure out who might be next after “The Rated R Superstar” to wrap up their career.

Considering the list of legendary names on the roster, there could be any number of retirements coming soon for All Elite Wrestling in the months and years to come.

Here are five potential upcoming AEW retirements after Adam Copeland.

Christian Cage

At AEW All Out 2026, The Young Bucks defeated FTR and Cage and Cope in a three-way Ladder Match to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

Adam Copeland would later reveal that his tag team partner Christian Cage suffered a serious ribs injury and a collapsed lung during the course of this bout.

At 52 years old, Cage could be in the final run of his illustrious pro wrestling career.

Considering his history with Cope as a partner and rival, it would make a ton of sense if Christian was next to hang up his boots following his longtime best friend.

Chris Jericho

Another AEW star who has reached legendary status is definitely Chris Jericho.

In April 2026, Jericho made his return and has seemingly been trying to give back to All Elite Wrestling in what could be his final run.

With Jericho about to turn 56, fans could be in the midst of watching “Le Champion” call it a career.

Jericho retiring should be treated as a big deal and is deserving of a retirement tour for the ages.

Samoa Joe

In 2022, Samoa Joe signed with All Elite Wrestling and has become one of the most decorated stars in the company’s history.

Over the past four years, Joe is a two-time AEW World Champion and a two-time TNT Champion.

“The Samoan Submission Machine” has a career that has spanned 27 years and multiple different promotions.

With his flourishing Hollywood career, Joe could be wrapping things up with his legendary career in the years to come.

The Young Bucks

There truly would be no All Elite Wrestling without the contributions of The Young Bucks.

Matt and Nick Jackson took tag team wrestling to new heights on the independent scene, Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling that led to the formation of AEW.

Since then, The Bucks are a record-breaking four-time AEW World Tag Team Champions.

With all their accomplishments, The Bucks are more than deserving of getting a special retirement.

Kenny Omega

Speaking of The Young Bucks, most fans can’t talk about them without bringing up their Elite stablemate Kenny Omega.

Since arriving in All Elite Wrestling, Omega is a two-time AEW World Champion, two-time AEW World Trios Champion, former International Champion and AEW World Tag Team Champion.

Outside of the company, Omega is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and considered one of the greatest in-ring performers of all time.

While he is still at the top of his game, it feels like Omega has more years behind him than in front of him, making his upcoming retirement from the ring something that fans have to prepare themselves whether they like it or not.
