Six Potential Opponents If Bayley Wins At SummerSlam

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been two WWE superstars that have exploded to the top of their game. With Lynch and Charlotte taking time away from TV, Bayley and Sasha Banks have been the workhorses of the Four Horsewomen. They have been the most noteworthy WWE stars of this year and their achievements have been boundless!

Bayley has held the SmackDown Women’s Championship for almost an entire year. She holds this precious title around her waist with the Tag Team Championship over her shoulder. Likewise, Sasha Banks has the Raw Women’s Championship.

With both Role-Models defending their single titles against Asuka at SummerSlam and having to defend their Tag Team Championship’s a week later at Payback, they could go from gold to goldless real quick.

However, if that isn’t the case and Bayley remains SmackDown Women’s Champion. Who should her next defence be against? Here is a list of ‘Six Potential Opponents If Bayley Wins At SummerSlam’:

6. Nikki Cross

The Nikki Cross character has always been quite the maniac but her actions lately have put her on a whole other level of psycho.

Over the past year, Cross has seemed to gain this obsession with the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She has never won it but has gotten so close that she could taste it. This taste of glory has made her determined to finally vanquish Bayley – even if that means hurting whoever is in her way.

With Banks in Bayley’s corner, there was always a distraction in the way of Cross’ victory. Therefore, it would be great to see this story transpire further. This could put a strain on her relationship with Alexa Bliss, and there are tons of possibilities of where you can go with that.

This story can be so good if they took out the interferences and commotions and allowed the match to be vicious and destructive. I don’t think we are done with Nikki Cross just yet and one day she will get her chance to hold a single’s title in WWE.

5. Alexa Bliss

While Cross has been gaining all these Championship matches and getting nowhere, Alexa Bliss has been sitting in the sidelines, supporting her best friend. It is time to change that.

Recently, Bliss has been involved in the personal rivalry between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. She appeared in Strowman’s hallucination during the Swamp Fight and was even attacked by “The Fiend” a few weeks ago!

Bliss could go on to play an important factor in the Universal Championship match, however, what are her plans for afterward? Hanging around with Nikki Cross has made a bigger difference to the Bliss character than first thought.

Bliss and Bayley have a history dating back to 2017 and now could be the time to reignite that rivalry with the roles reversed. Now, Bayley is the bully and Bliss is the babyface.

Bayley and Bliss have had some goofy and tiresome rivalries – look at ‘Bayley: This is your life’ for an example. It is time to change that because both of them can wrestle decently and talk with the best of them!

If Bliss wins, carrying this championship into Wyatt’s or Strowman’s creepy world would be an interesting story to play out into the Halloween season.

4. Naomi

A logical challenger for Bayley, if she wins at SummerSlam, would be Naomi.

Who doesn’t love Naomi? She is athletic. She is flexible. Some of her moves require insane amounts of talented to pull off and best of all, she can dance! She is just really fun to watch in the ring compared to other wrestlers.

There is even a movement on Twitter making the rounds because Naomi does deserve much better than a rivalry over karaoke…

Therefore, Naomi vs. Bayley is definitely an ideal way to go. They can have a good match, giving fans what they want to see and continuing to elevate the SmackDown Women’s Championship by having in a feud people care about.

3. Mandy Rose

This Sunday may see the fascinating feud between Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville come to its conclusion in a dramatic ‘Hair vs Hair’ match.

Therefore, Mandy Rose is in need of new competition and who better to go for than the biggest target in the SmackDown women’s division? Rose’s boyfriend, Otis, is holding the Money in the Bank briefcase, which means he is always one step closer than everyone else at capturing the Universal Championship. So, perhaps, Rose wants her piece of Championship glory. Imagine Rose and Otis being the new power-couple of WWE? Michael Cole would love to see it.

Rose is actually a decent in-ring talent and has been developing her arsenal with each passing match. Therefore, a feud with Bayley would be an solid transition from her great rivalry with Sonya Deville.

2. Dana Brooke

It is absolutely clear that hard work pays off when looking at Dana Brooke of 2020 versus Dana Brooke when she made her main roster debut in 2016.

Brooke was one of those wrestlers back in the day that you just wanted to return to NXT. It was identifiable that she was very limited in the ring and was rushed to the main roster before she was ready.

However, more recently, her matches have been pretty good with one or two slick moves putting the old Brooke to shame.

Therefore, on a B-level pay per view like Clash of Champions, Dana Brooke should get her opportunity to challenge for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Tamina got a title shot this year, why not Dana?

With the right booking, you could do this match and have both participants come out of it looking better.

1. Sasha Banks

It has to happen eventually, right?

Bayley and Sasha Banks have had an on/off relationship since the start of their WWE tenure. Even going as far as to have two of NXT’s greatest matches with their clashes at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and Respect in 2015. However, their heated chemistry isn’t very hot whenever tested on the main roster. They always seem better as a pair, being the first team to capture the Women’s Tag Team Championship last year.

This hasn’t stopped WWE teasing the break-up of the ‘Golden Role-Model’s’. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks in 2020 feels like a must and only a matter of time until one of them betrays the other.

Every pay per view it looks like the right time to split up this team, but it hasn’t happened. They seem better friends than ever with every championship now over their shoulders, but in WWE isn’t that the perfect time to split them up?

With both women facing Asuka at SummerSlam, it is expected that one shall retain and the other will fail due to untimely communication between the duo.

I’d prefer Bayley to be the heel in this dynamic as her work recently has been astonishing! So Bayley should cost Banks the Raw Women’s Championship for ‘The Boss’ to rise and give Bayley her comeuppance.
