While the current WWE NXT Champion Joe Hendry isn’t long into his reign, there are already a line-up of challengers waiting for their shot.
From expected foes to potential outside picks that could make a big impact during this year’s lead up to NXT Stand & Deliver, there could be some fun storylines ahead to unveil the next NXT champion.
Here are seven WWE stars that could become the next NXT Champion.
7. Ricky Saints

Making a big impact already in his just over one year in NXT, Ricky Saints is no stranger to holding the NXT Championship.
Having previously held the title for 70 days last year, Saints ultimately fell to Oba Femi at WWE NXT Deadline before “The Ruler” vacated the belt one month later.
Continuing his feud over the NXT Championship with current champ Joe Hendry, it would make complete sense to see Saints capture the title next.
With their growing rivalry likely to benefit from trading the NXT Championship back-and-forth rather than either having long reigns, there could be some fun high stakes action still to come.

6. Tony D’Angelo

After taking time away from NXT TV, Tony D’Angelo has made his mission statement clear.
While he is initially coming after Darkstate for sending him out of action for months — D’Angelo has teased a second stage to his return plan.
Noting that it will be revealed after he takes out Darkstate, it could be that Tony D will set his sights on the NXT Championship – the one title he’s yet to hold on the brand.
Able to channel either babyface or heel energy, Tony D’Angelo could be the perfect future foe to take on Joe Hendry.

5. Ethan Page

One former NXT Champion who might take another shot at reclaiming the title is “All Ego” Ethan Page.
Making for a solid heel foil to the babyface current champ Joe Hendry, Ethan Page has earned another shot at NXT’s top prize.
Already holding the NXT Championship for 86 days in 2024, Page could certainly look to get back into the hunt again — particularly if he loses his currently coveted North American Championship.
Certainly continuing to be in the main event picture in NXT, seeing Page pick up the title next makes complete sense.

4. Shiloh Hill

With WWE LFG Season 2 winner Shiloh Hill making a big impact since his debut on NXT, it would make total sense to see him capture a title soon.
While it may still be a bit early in his tenure to take hold of the NXT Championship straight away from Joe Hendry, there are certainly circumstances that could make it make sense.
With the Road to WrestleMania firmly underway, it may be that a multi-man match will ultimately determine the next champion as NXT joins the party in Las Vegas.
As all eyes advance to who will make it to Stand & Deliver, it could be a major coming out party for Shiloh Hill.

3. Jackson Drake

Impressing NXT fans in his recent NXT Championship title opportunities, one star that seems likely to continue the hunt is Jackson Drake.
Already holding the WWE Evolve Championship, Jackson Drake looks determined to become a double champ on NXT.
After facing off against Joe Hendry for the title on a recent edition of NXT TV, it would seem that Drake will be back around again in the future.
With The Vanity Project faction continuing to rise the ranks in NXT from their WWE Evolve origins, there could definitely be some more major opportunities soon.

2. Myles Borne

One NXT star that could definitely find himself holding the NXT Championship in the very near future is Myles Borne.
After departing the No Quarter Catch Crew, Borne has stood on his own and shone brightly when faced with big opportunities.
Possibly being an intriguing NXT star that could see a heel turn in the future, perhaps Borne will have a dastardly interaction with Joe Hendry that takes him to the next level.
Definitely a star on the rise in WWE, Myles Borne remains a compelling character to watch grow.

1. Dion Lennox

A standout from the Darkstate faction is Dion Lennox, and he could be the one to topple Joe Hendry when the time comes.
With Lennox having made the most out of his opportunities so far on the brand, he has already held the NXT Tag Team Championship twice, as well as being in contention for the NXT Championship.
Taking part in the ladder match to determine the winner of the title after it was vacated by Oba Femi, Lennox has come close to victory.
Given that he gave up the NXT Tag Team Championship to his stablemate Saquon Shugars, Lennox’s intention to win singles gold in 2026 is clear for all WWE fans to see.
