With the current WWE tag team division across all three brands, it could be time for some new competition to arrive to spice things up.
From legendary stars that could be making a WWE return soon to a veteran tag team that is just waiting to be put together on the roster, there could be some exciting new WWE tag team debuts coming soon.
Here are six potential new WWE tag teams that could be debuting in the near future.
6. Lucha Brothers (Penta & Rey Fenix)

One new WWE tag team just waiting to be put together are the Lucha Brothers.
While both Penta and Rey Fenix have made a big splash in their respective WWE debuts, they have yet to unite on-screen.
Kept separate with Penta on WWE Raw and Fenix on SmackDown, it could be time for the decorated Lucha Brothers be introduced to the tag team division.
With decades of experience wrestling together, the pair could be formidable foes for any top team, and could be particularly enjoyable to see facing off against the likes of the New Day and the Usos.

5. The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch)

It was reported in May 2025 that The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) had requested and been granted their releases from AEW.
With a vignette shared around the same time that seemingly teased a new alliance with TNA Wrestling’s Elijah (formerly known as Elias in WWE) it could be that there are still plans for the trio to unite.
Potentially looking to join WWE in the future, the group could develop in TNA Wrestling, leading to a crossover appearance in NXT.
Alternately, it seems Aleister Black could be looking to extend his reach on SmackDown and could pick up the tag team for a new faction along with Zelina Vega.

4. TNT (Terrell & Terrence Hughes)

In action in indie wrestling all around the world, Terrell and Terrence Hughes have most recently appeared in Germany and the Netherlands so far this month.
Potentially making a debut in NXT in the near future, the move could come at a solid time for the pair to maximize their family connection.
The Hughes Brothers are the sons of WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley, who has recently appeared in TNA Wrestling.
Having faced off against Matt & Jeff Hardy in the recent past, TNT could be an intriguing opposing force to the potentially returning veterans.

3. Matt & Jeff Hardy

A pair of shoo-ins to becoming WWE Hall of Famers could be on the verge of returning to the company after some crossover appearances already.
Currently reigning as NXT Tag Team Champions, Matt & Jeff Hardy have already begun to re-integrate into WWE TV despite still being contracted with TNA Wrestling.
The duo are doing some belt collecting at the minute, currently reigning as tag team champs in NXT, TNA Wrestling, House of Glory Wrestling and 4th Rope Wrestling.
Seemingly likely to return to the company after their TNA contracts end next month, it would seem that the Hardy Boyz will be back in WWE action in the near future.

2. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

Former AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) have been missing from AEW action since January 2025 when they dropped the titles to the Hurt Syndicate.
While there were reports that anticipated the duo were set to see their AEW contracts expire over the summer, the pair remain listed on the AEW roster page.
When they are able to enter free agency, the charismatic duo would make a great addition to the rebuilding WWE NXT tag team division.
With TV experience, fan favorite characters and an interactive entrance, Private Party could be able to continue their good times outside of AEW soon.

1. Wayne & Wyatt Rhodes

While professional wrestling fans know WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and his legendary brother Dustin Rhodes, there’s another tag team that is on the rise from the family as well.
Wayne & Wyatt Rhodes are the nephews of both Dustin and Cody, making a name for themselves around indie wrestling.
With their unique look reminiscent of the best of pro-wrestling in the 1980s, the duo could be an amazing addition to NXT where their personalities could shine.
While the duo have appeared for AEW in the past, there has been no confirmation that they’re signed with the promotion – meaning the next generation of the Texas Outlaws could still be WWE bound.
