The WWE WrestleMania 42 card has been taking shape in the weeks leading up to the two-night premium live event.
Recent reports have indicated that the company was discussing the opportunity to present a Hell In A Cell Match on the lineup.
Whether it be for an announced bout or one that is being built, the addition of the stipulation could add even more eyes and sell more tickets for the Mania events in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Here are seven potential Hell In A Cell Matches at WrestleMania 42.
7. Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu
On the March 6 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre to win the Undisputed WWE Championship thanks in large part to Jacob Fatu interjecting himself to stop McIntyre from cheating.
This led to McIntyre attacking Fatu on the week after and then a full-scaled brawl that spanned the entire night on the March 20 episode of SmackDown, ending with both men falling off a platform outside of the arena.
Considering the lengths each man has gone to inflict punishment on one another, it feels like Fatu and McIntyre need some kind of stipulation for their next in-ring clash.
With Fatu and McIntyre’s feud heating up, it would make sense for “The Scottish Warrior” challenging “The Samoan Werewolf” in a Hell In A Cell Match at WrestleMania 42 with the last time the stipulation was seen being Drew’s clash with CM Punk in 2024.
6. The Original El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano
At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, The Original El Grande Americano made his return to the company as an entrant in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match.
This led to The Original El Grande confronting the current El Grande Americano and kickstarting a rivalry between the two masked “luchadors.”
Many fans believe a battle between the two El Grande Americanos will culminate in a Mask vs. Mask Match at WrestleMania 42, but there could be an even more severe stipulation to use in this feud.
The Original El Grande battling with El Grande II could make for a surprising Hell In A Cell Match on the Mania card and put the spotlight firmly on both men.
5. Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio
On the March 9 episode of Monday Night Raw, The Judgment Day turned heel on Finn Balor in a four-on-one assault.
After years of dissension, Dominik Mysterio led the rest of the group to betray Balor and excommunicate him from the faction.
This seems to be setting the stage for a showdown between the two former friends and stablemates at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
Wanting to up the stakes in this bout, Balor could challenge “Dirty Dom” to face him inside the Hell In A Cell where everything can finally come to a head at “The Show of Shows.”

4. The MFTs vs. The Wyatt Sicks
The war between The MFTs and The Wyatt Sicks has been going on for the better part of six months.
This faction feud has seen the two groups doing battle in singles, tag team and multi-man action, while trading the WWE Tag Team Championships and Uncle Howdy’s sacred lantern.
With WWE only four weeks until WrestleMania 42, it feels like The MFTs and The Wyatt Sicks will most likely culminate this rivalry at “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”
There might not be a better way to finally settle the score between these two stables than inside Hell In A Cell.
3. AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch – WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship
Since making her return in September 2025, AJ Lee has been making Becky Lynch’s life a living hell.
After making Becky tap out twice in 2025, Lee defeated “The Man” and made her submit once again to win the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Elimination Chamber 2026.
Then, Lee picked up a win over Bayley in her first title defense on the March 16 edition of WWE Raw, which led to the return of Lynch who attacked her rival.
It seems like fans are going to see yet another battle between Lynch and Lee that should finally put a close to their feud and there might not be a better way to settle things once and for all than having Becky and AJ clash inside Hell In A Cell at WrestleMania 42.

2. Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton – Undisputed WWE Championship
After Cody Rhodes regained the Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre on the March 6 SmackDown, it looked like he would clash with his longtime friend and former mentor Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42.
However, things were taken to a personal level when Orton turned heel and brutally attacked Rhodes during their contract signing for Mania on the March 13 SmackDown.
Following this bloody beatdown, Rhodes will be out for revenge on “The Viper,” wanting to show Orton that he can meet him on this aggressive level.
Making Rhodes vs. Orton a Hell In A Cell Match would further establish this Undisputed WWE Championship bout as more of a headliner on the WrestleMania 42 card and take things to the next level between them at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”
1. CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns – World Heavyweight Championship
Ever since Roman Reigns chose the World Heavyweight Championship to challenge for at WrestleMania 42, the feud between “The OTC” and CM Punk has only heated up.
On the March 2 episode of WWE Raw, Punk crossed a line when he told Reigns that he planned on burying him next to his late father Sika.
This has made things truly personal between Punk and Reigns, which should cause this battle for the World Heavyweight Championship even more intense at WrestleMania 42.
Wanting to find out who is truly the best between them, a Hell In A Cell stipulation would put Punk and Reigns inside the ring, looking to tear into one another to walk out of Mania with the top prize on Monday Night Raw.
