With an all-star roster of former WWE Champions that could still be looking for one more run in the company, there could be some returns ahead.
From former WWE stars who captured gold under the WWE Divas Championship banner to others with reigns across singles and tag titles — there are some interesting possible returns.
Here are six former WWE Women’s Champions that could re-sign with the company.
6. Paige
After departing WWE in July 2022 after having not competed in the ring for several years, the former Paige popped up under her real first name Saraya in AEW.
Saraya would go on to reveal that she had she been medically cleared to compete and capture the AEW Women’s World Championship before departing Tony Khan’s company in 2025.
Now back on the free agent market, fans continue to wonder when or where they might be able to see the former NXT Women’s Champion and Divas Champion make a return to WWE.
Certainly with unfinished business with the likes of AJ Lee, Nikki Bella and even Natalya, Paige could certainly return and immediately enter hot new rivalries or start up old ones.

5. Brie Bella
While fans remain hopeful that a return to WWE from Brie Bella will come to fruition sometime soon, there have yet to be any real clues.
Brie Bella is a former WWE Divas Champion after holding the title for 70 days back in 2011 — a feat that perhaps she could pull off again.
With more options for singles titles in WWE than during her tenure and of course the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship (which didn’t exist when the Bella Twins were in active competition together), Brie Bella could find herself capturing gold again in WWE.
Potentially being reserved for a future Royal Rumble appearance, it could be that Brie Bella makes her big return a year after twin sister Nikki and at the Royal Rumble 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

4. Shayna Baszler
A potential returning former champion that still has a lot to contribute both in the ring and behind the scenes is Shayna Baszler.
Formerly holding the NXT Women’s Championship, Baszler was also a multi-time Women’s Tag Team Champion on the main roster before departing the company in 2025.
Able to return to any number of spots under the WWE umbrella, Baszler could end up being a really cool addition to AAA or TNA Wrestling if not the main roster or NXT.
Still with stories left to tell, Baszler has a lot of upside to her Queen of Spades character if given the opportunity to get the spotlight.

3. The IInspiration
A pair of intriguing names that are reportedly free agents are former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics, now the IInspiration in TNA Wrestling.
After taking time away from wrestling to start families, Jess McKay and Cassie Lee are back in action in TNA Wrestling and have even captured the TNA Knockouts Tag titles since their return.
However with reports that the duo have yet to sign long term deals with any major promotion, the time could be right to make a return to WWE.
After making an appearance on NXT as a part of the TNA & NXT invasion angle, perhaps WWE fans could see more from the former Peyton Royce and Billie Kay down the road.

2. Kelly Kelly
One former WWE Divas Champion that could make a return in 2026 might be Kelly Kelly.
While Kelly was vocal on social media about having been invited to take in WWE Evolution from the crowd, she felt it wasn’t the right return for her character.
Passing on that appearance, Kelly Kelly sounded open to future possibilities with WWE noting that she’ll be back “when the time is right”.
Perhaps a future candidate for the WWE Hall of Fame, Kelly Kelly could also be an amazing surprise entrant in the upcoming Royal Rumble 2026.

1. Indi Hartwell
Capturing the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship during her time in the company, Indi Hartwell is a fan favorite that could return.
While Hartwell departed from WWE in November 2024, she didn’t hang around for long as she returned to first independent wrestling before signing with TNA Wrestling.
With continued crossovers between NXT and TNA, it could be that we could see more of Indi Hartwell in the near future as TNA debuts their own weekly episodic TV on AMC, Thursday Night Impact.
Already making a name for herself in TNA Wrestling, it would be great to see Indi Hartwell fully re-signed with WWE in the future.
