AJ Styles Final WWE Opponent

With John Cena wrapping up his WWE farewell tour, his Crown Jewel 2025 opponent AJ Styles could also be considering his final opponent.

There are numerous intriguing choices for who could be the final opponent in WWE for AJ Styles, and after he announced his plans to retire in 2026, the time for his last match is coming soon.

Here are six potential final opponents for AJ Styles’ final WWE match.

6. Chris Jericho

A match that seemed impossible in the past could come together in WWE in 2026 between Chris Jericho and AJ Styles.

Jericho’s AEW contract expires at the end of 2025 and the current expectation is that he’ll be returning to WWE.

With a slim margin of time that the pair could overlap, perhaps this feud could come together.

Given the legendary status of both performers, seeing Jericho as Styles’ last match on the way to his own potential retirement could be an incredible moment.

5. Finn Balor

One potential final opponent for AJ Styles who is currently contracted with WWE is Finn Balor.

Although he continues to be occupied with The Judgment Day faction and tag team action, Finn Balor remains a top singles performer with decades of experience in the industry.

With significant history to pull from between the pair, there could be some interesting character work that leads up to the match.

Able to put on a technical display of both strength and speed, the dynamic duo would make for an incredible retirement match for Styles.

4. Samoa Joe

One potential final opponent that could come from outside the current WWE roster is Samoa Joe.

With a long history with AJ Styles that spans companies and decades, fans would certainly be thrilled to see the duo have one more match.

Joining AEW in 2022, little is known about Joe’s current contractual obligation to Tony Khan’s company but in professional wrestling things can change rapidly.

If there were a way for Samoa Joe to make a return to WWE in order to be one of the last – or the last – opponent for AJ Styles before he retires, it could be a magical ending for a legendary career.

3. Frankie Kazarian

While AJ Styles could have an iconic bout against the retired Christopher Daniels, it doesn’t seem to be in the cards with Daniels already having hung up his boots.

However, Daniels’ former tag team partner and another TNA legend Frankie Kazarian remains currently in active competition in TNA and would make an iconic final WWE opponent for AJ Styles.

With the pair able to celebrate their long history in the industry as well as showcase continued technical excellence, it could be the perfect ending for Styles.

Styles and Kazarian exchanged tributes this past weekend in their matches, so it certainly seems Kazarian would be up their on Styles’ potential dream opponents list.

2. CM Punk

Another potential foe for AJ Styles last match before retirement could be CM Punk.

Able to engage in a powerful feud rather than just put on a one-off spectacular – as Styles perfectly executed with John Cena at WWE Crown Jewel 2025 – Punk could bring out a unique side of Styles.

Harkening back to some of his most heated rivalries, there is no doubt that Punk could get under the skin of Styles in order to bring a deeply personal element forward on-screen.

With a lot of shared history in the industry, seeing these two titans face off is hopefully in the works for the future, even if Punk isn’t Styles’ final opponent.

1. GUNTHER

A potential opponent who is gaining a reputation for his retirement match skills is The Ring General GUNTHER.

Featuring on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event as the final career opponent for Goldberg, GUNTHER is rumored to be set to participate in yet another huge final match.

Still being rumored as the last match opponent for John Cena, it could be that GUNTHER continues to collect the final showdowns of legends like trophies.

Taking up the mantle as the modern day legend killer, GUNTHER could prove to be a massive feud for AJ Styles with the latter refusing to go quietly into the night.
