The third annual AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view takes place tonight, October 1.
The stacked card features 13 matches in total – nine on the main show and four on the Tailgate Brawl pre-show.
While the lineup appears to be set, it’s still likely we’ll see a few last-minute changes and additions to the event.
Here are six potential last-minute changes for AEW WrestleDream.
6. Syuri Accepts Mercedes Mone’s challenge

Mercedes Moné appeared for CMLL last night, defeating Persephone at an all-women’s show at Arena México – outselling WWE Evolution, it was the most highly attended all-women’s wrestling event of the year.
After securing the victory, Moné took to the microphone to announce an open challenge for WrestleDream – and, importantly, she specified that she was calling out “any champion.”
That “champion” could very well be STARDOM star Syuri, who recently regained the IWGP Women’s Championship, defeating Sareee in a standout bout at NJPW’s King of Pro Wrestling.
The former UFC veteran has previously appeared in AEW at All In Texas and had been set for an excursion before suffering an injury that required surgery – meaning WrestleDream could mark her first singles match in the company.

5. Kenny Omega Appearance

According to The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, WrestleDream was originally set to feature the return of The Golden Lovers tag team.
This would have seen Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi reunite for their first straight tag team match since 2018, taking on two members of the Don Callis Family.
Due to Ibushi’s unfortunate injury, the match had to be scrapped = but that doesn’t necessarily mean Omega won’t appear.
On the October 15 edition of Dynamite, Omega was involved in an angle featuring his former partners, The Young Bucks, alongside Jack Perry and Luchasaurus, suggesting he could get involved in their tag team match at WrestleDream in some capacity.

4. Details Announced For Women’s Blood & Guts

AEW has already announced that its annual Blood & Guts – the WarGames-style cage match – is set for Dynamite on November 12.
For the first time ever, the match will feature a women’s division version of the brutal two-ring contest.
There’s been no official confirmation of the teams yet, but it appears likely to center around the long-running multi-woman feud involving Jamie Hayter, Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron, Queen Amanita and Kris Statlander against Thekla, Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford.
At WrestleDream, we could see this match made official, with both line-ups announced – perhaps following the singles clash between Hayter and Thekla, who would then be revealed as the team captains.

3. Swerve Strickland Appearance

Swerve Strickland has not wrestled in AEW since Forbidden Door in August, with the top babyface sidelined by a torn meniscus.
During the media call for WrestleDream, AEW CEO Tony Khan noted that Strickland would be back “relatively soon”, but could that return happen at the PPV?
It was two years ago that Swerve and Hangman Page wrestled their first match – the beginning of the brutal blood feud that defined both men’s careers – which took place at the inaugural WrestleDream.
Could we see that rivalry reignited, with Swerve returning to confront Hangman, challenging him for the AEW World Championship after the main event?

2. Announcement On Women’s Tag Team Title

At WrestleDream, we could also see another major announcement made.
On the September 24 edition of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan officially unveiled the long-awaited AEW Women’s Tag Team Title belts – though no further details have been given since.
As with other titles in the company, it seems likely that the inaugural champions will be crowned through a tournament.
WrestleDream could be the show where the teams, brackets, and dates for the tournament are announced.

1. Eddie Kingston & HOOK Face New Japan Pro-Wrestling Duo

The recently returned Eddie Kingston and his new tag team partner HOOK are set for a bout on the WrestleDream pre-show – though their opponents remain unannounced.
There’s every chance this could be a mystery tag team from New Japan Pro-Wrestling, given the ongoing relationship between the two companies and Kingston’s own history there.
A likely scenario could see Bullet Club War Dogs members Gabe Kidd and Drilla Moloney appear, especially since it was Kidd who originally injured Kingston in May 2024.
A big-time blood feud between Kingston and Kidd is clearly going to happen and we could see it start at WrestleDream.
