With the recent debuts of ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight, there may be some more AEW surprise signings that have yet to debut.
From some that are rumored to certainly be happening to other stars that may become available soon, there are a lot of top prospects for AEW to consider.
Here are seven potential new AEW signings.
9. Von Wagner

After being spotted in a scene as an extra, Von Wagner – now using his real name Cal Bloom – has technically already appeared on AEW TV.
Following his role as a security guard during Dynamite, Bloom would go on to make his ROH debut.
Bloom teamed with another free agent Deonn Rusman in a losing effort against the Gates of Agony.
Making two appearances is far from having a contract but AEW would be wise to look twice at Cal Bloom, who became a popular figure in WWE NXT

8. Josh Alexander

Former TNA Wrestling World Champion Josh Alexander has not confirmed his future contract plans, but rumors have persisted that he is AEW bound.
The Canadian has yet to debut, despite reports that “sources close to Alexander” asserted the Walking Weapon was heading to AEW over a month ago.
He could always elect to re-sign with TNA Wrestling or even pop up in WWE – the experienced veteran would have a lot to contribute in any company.
While the mystery surrounding him continues, his potential arrival in AEW remains exciting to think about.

7. Gabe Kidd

NJPW star Gabe Kidd is another name that would seemingly be poised to head straight for AEW in the future.
The outspoken member of the Bullet Club War Dogs already tangled with Kenny Omega at the NJPW, CMLL & AEW show Wrestle Dynasty which launched his popularity to a new level.
Scheduled to be stateside for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport on April 17 in Las Vegas, the buzz around Kidd is not likely to die down any time soon.
Signing Gabe Kidd to AEW when he becomes available, seemingly early 2026, would be a great move for AEW.

6. Davey Boy Smith Jr.

While Davey Boy Smith Jr has not had any matches in AEW, he is well travelled throughout NJPW, GCW, MLW, CMLL and of course WWE.
He is reportedly currently signed to All Japan Pro Wrestling but has expressed interest in working with AEW in the past.
Noting that he signs five-month contracts with AJPW, heading back to Japan in March 2025 – it seems he could be available by the summer.
With his impressive family lineage, the veteran would bring a lot to the table in AEW, and would be a perfect fit to be involved in the annual Owen Hart Foundation tournaments.

5. Cedric Alexander

Cedric Alexander is at or near the top of most people’s lists when it comes to potential AEW signings that could be coming soon.
Three quarters of the original WWE Hurt Business have reunited as the Hurt Syndicate in AEW – MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley.
The only missing piece to complete the puzzle is Alexander.
The only potential stumbling block could be the previous issues between AEW CEO Tony Khan and Alexander’s wife Big Swole.

4. Violence Is Forever

The Violence Is Forever tag team made up of Dominic Garrini and Kevin Ku were recently spotted as extras on AEW TV and had a match in ROH.
The reigning GCW Tag Team Champions boast promotions like DPW and Black Label Pro Wrestling but have previously made their desire to work with one AEW tag team known.
Violence is Forever have been trying to get a match against FTR for years!
Debuting back in 2018, Violence is Forever would be an experienced and hard hitting addition to the AEW tag team division.

3. Karrion Kross

According to a report from Fightful Select, it’s believed Karrion Kross’ WWE contract is set to come up in “summer 2025”, which means he could become available very soon.
While Kross has been featured in WWE since returning – and has remained on TV despite the rest of his Final Testament stable of Paul Ellering, Akam & Rezar being released – it may be time for him to explore his options in AEW.
With a very deep roster of wrestlers in AEW, Kross would have a lot of new opponents to face.
Or, he could even rekindle former feuds with some familiar faces from WWE like Ricochet or Adam Cole.

2. Joe Hendry

A lot has naturally been made about the possibility of Joe Hendry joining WWE, but if that doesn’t come to fruition, AEW would be another potential option.
By the time Hendry’s TNA contract comes up, there’s no guarantee that WWE would still be as interested in signing him as it seemed when he was effectively the face of the TNA/NXT partnership.
In fact, even if WWE is interested, AEW could still jump in and attempt to negotiate with Hendry to bring him into the promotion.
One of the most popular, if not the most popular stars not currently signed with either of the top two companies, Hendry could have a big decision to make.

1. Sidney Akeem

After departing WWE last year, Sidney Akeem (known as Reggie and SCRYPTS) continues the independent wrestling grind.
The former Cirque du Soleil acrobat has spent time in GCW and even had two Ring of Honor matches back in 2024.
His acrobatic and unique style would be a really fun addition to AEW, even if his role was more of a manager rather than a full-time wrestler.
The entertaining star still definitely has goals in the industry – it would be fun to see him have a run in AEW.
