We are drawing nearer to the fifth anniversary of AEW Double or Nothing. Currently, the card holds an astounding 12 matches across the main card and zero hour – packed with a truckload of talent.
But given it is AEW’s birthday, we are surely in for some last-minute surprises this coming Sunday, especially as the EVPs hold the company hostage and Tony Khan has now returned to the company.
This serves as the perfect hostile environment for the craziest surprises in the history of the company.
But what could be done to enhance this already stacked night?
5. Last Minute Casino Battle Royale For Zero Hour

The Casino Battle is one of the most beloved concepts AEW ever came up with.
The first ever Casino Battle Royale took place at Double or Nothing 2019, and was one by none other than Hangman Adam Page.
So it only makes sense on the fifth anniversary of AEW’s first pay-per-view to revisit this concept once again.
Put the match in the zero hour and use this to bring back a couple of surprises from AEW’s past and present.
Not only would it set the tone for the night in perfect fashion, but it would get a lot of the company’s lesser used talent a spot on the card.
Sure, there’s already 12 matches on the card, but one more can’t hurt right?

4. Christopher Daniels Turns Heel

For those who don’t know: The Fallen Angel has been ‘fired’ by Nicolas and Matthew Jackson on AEW Dynamite a few weeks ago.
AEW making Daniels’ entire ‘firing’ play into The Elite’s Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing would be a twist few would see coming.
Daniels returning and costing Team AEW the match in order to save his job in the company makes a lot of sense and could add a new layer to the ongoing storyline going forward.
While a heel turn could be the end result, another option would be The Elite blackmailing Daniels to interject in the match, dangling his job in front of him like a carrot on a string.

3. Chuck Taylor Is Not Retired

As things stand the career-ending injury of Chuck Taylor is reported to be legitimate.
This was a genuine surprise to hear, with most fans assuming that the entire thing was a work to garner some extra heat towards Trent Beretta.
But what if it is not? What if Chuckie T has us all fooled?
It is hard to believe that the master of the awful waffle won’t interfere with the Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Baretta match. However, with Taylor reportedly undergoing surgery perhaps this is little more than blind optimism.

2. Gangrel Debuts

The teases are there. The leader of the Brood and mentor of Adam Copeland just might be coming to AEW.
Just over four years ago Tony Khan said he would be open to work with Gangrel, and while it would be incredibly random it would make a lot of sense in the context of Adam Copeland’s feud with Malakai Black.
Suspiciously he made a last-minute cancellation of his booking for WrestlingKult in Germany for this upcoming weekend, so perhaps there is some credence to these rumors.
Possibly the Vampire Warrior is going to aid Adam Copeland in his quest to fight off the members of the House of Black on Sunday. Sadly, I probably wouldn’t expect to hear that all-time banger of an entrance theme when he does.

1. MJF Return

Is it time? Is Maxwell Jacob Friedman finally returning to AEW for a huge surprise?
Reportedly the former AEW World Champion is nearing a return and AEW Double or Nothing could be the perfect place for that.
Undoubtedly MJF is one of the most celebrated stars of the entire industry and it would be a damn shame if he does not take part in the 5-year celebrations.
Imagine MJF, the scum of the earth, actually helping Team AEW to beat the EVPs.
Many would expect MJF to immediately target the Undisputed Kingdom when he returns to TV, however, with Adam Cole still not cleared that may not be on the cards right now.
There’s an argument that AEW should hold fire on MJF’s return until Cole is ready to go, however, given that AEW are (in the eyes of many fans) going through a cold streak right now – they could really do with MJF back ASAP.
It’s almost impossible MJF doesn’t provide a boost in interest given his talent level, so hopefully we see this happen in Las Vegas providing he himself is fully cleared and ready to go.
