While AEW Worlds End may have just shaken things up in the company, there may be even more surprises in store for the final AEW Dynamite of 2025.
From new stars that could potentially debut to hotly anticipated returns, there could still be some more memorable moments coming from AEW as 2025 comes to a close.
Here are seven potential surprises that could be in store for the final AEW Dynamite of 2025.
7. Jay White Returns

Amongst some of the returns that could happen in 2026, one that fans have been anxiously awaiting is that of Jay White.
After breaking his hand early last year, Switchblade has been out of action subsequently having surgery to resolve an injury that had previously been plaguing him.
However, potentially poised to make a return to AEW sometime in 2026 it will be interesting to see where his allegiances lie with the Bang Bang Gang.
With both White and Colten Gunn out of action due to injury, perhaps the squad could be back at full strength in the new year.

6. New Challenger For Kris Statlander

There could be some fierce new competition in the horizon for Kris Statlander in the AEW Women’s division.
After successfully retaining her AEW Women’s World Championship at Worlds End, Stat could come face-to-face with a brand new AEW talent as her next challenger.
Lena Kross was rumored to be officially signed to AEW earlier this month, the Australian star has yet to debut.
Boasting an impressive look and stature (billed at 6 feet tall but notably taller than Stat as well as Megan Bayne), Kross could become an amazing new addition to the AEW women’s division.

While Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marc Quen) having disappeared from AEW since dropping the AEW Tag Team Championship in January 2025 — speculation has spun all year.
With some fans theorizing that the duo are benched ahead of a swap to WWE, there hasn’t been any official confirmation.
Since the mystery has continued, perhaps there will end up being a big swerve in the end that sees the duo return to AEW.
Potentially able to align with any number of existing stars, perhaps creating their own new fun-loving faction would be the perfect next step in AEW for the pair if they re-appeared.

4. Adam Cole Announced For New Role

Since Bryan Danielson has been a fantastic addition to the AEW commentary team, perhaps another AEW fan favorite could follow suit.
After Cole was forced to vacate the TNT Championship at AEW All In Texas to prioritize his health, he could have better memories of the Lone Star state coming soon.
With AEW picking up residency again in Arlington, Texas in the month of January for episodes of Collision — perhaps fans could see Cole pop-up on commentary on Saturday nights.
Making a surprise on-screen appearance at AEW Worlds End 2025 during the Zero Hour, Cole received a big crowd reaction after seeing the former AEW TNT Champion. With Tony Khan giving comments in the post-show media scrum praising Cole’s skills as both a host and an analyst, perhaps we may be seeing more from Adam Cole in 2026.

3. Adam Copeland & Christian Cage Return

After retaining their AEW World Tag Team Championship in a bout against the Bang Bang Gang at AEW Worlds End, FTR shouldn’t stop looking over their shoulders.
With Adam Copeland likely to make a return to seek revenge against the Package Piledriver delivered to his wife WWE Hall of Famer Beth Copeland at AEW All Out in September.
After taking some time away from AEW, which was explained in storyline as an opportunity for Copeland to think — he was likely filming for the next season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians in production for Disney+.
However, when Copeland does return it would make total sense to see him reunited with Christian Cage once again to take on FTR — a rivalry that certainly seems likely to heat up again in 2026.

2. Jon Moxley Turns Babyface

A potential surprise that could happen at the last AEW Dynamite of 2025 could be a babyface turn for Jon Moxley.
Potentially less about his own actions and more about the actions of the rest of the Death Riders, there could still be an intriguing downfall on the way.
While Moxley’s leadership within the Death Riders was seemingly on the verge of collapse in the setting of his continued losses since dropping the AEW World Championship — instead he captured victory in the Continental Classic.
With the rest of the group perhaps less pleased with his success, it could be that capturing the win ended up sealing Moxley’s fate with the group who could surprise everyone by turning on him to close the year.

1. MJF’s Next Opponent Revealed

While there are certainly plenty of stories left to be told by 2x AEW World Champion, it will be fascinating to see which babyface talent steps up to challenge MJF next.
With there a high likelihood that MJF will next tangle with Swerve Strickland, there could be some returning favorites that could end up getting the first crack at the new champ.
Returns anticipated in 2026 include not only Jay White but further into the year, Will Ospreay — potentially making for fascinating future feuds for MJF.
Past rivalries with the likes of Brody King, Darby Allin and Jack Perry have all been entertaining, leaving plenty of potential options for MJF’s first challenger in 2026.
