With WWE Elimination Chamber fast approaching on February 28, there could definitely be some surprises in store in Chicago.
From potential surprise returns to brand new stars making their WWE debut, there could certainly be some big moments that represent some exciting possibilities for the Road to WrestleMania 42.
Here are six surprises that could happen at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026.
6. Paige Costs AJ Lee Intercontinental Championship
One WWE return that fans have continued to ask for is former NXT Champion as well as two-time Divas Champion, Paige.
With the recent returns of AJ Lee and Nikki Bella, it would be the perfect time for Paige to pop back up and potentially play a major role ahead of WrestleMania 42.
Potentially coming back with a dastardly heel attitude, it could be that Paige aligns with the recently reinvigorated Nattie in order to settle some scores with Lee and Maxxine Dupri.
Shaking up what fans will have expected, all four women could also end up having a match at WrestleMania 42 for the title, giving AJ Lee a triumphant victory in her first WrestleMania appearance in over a decade.

5. Mystery Crate Contains Danhausen
One hilarious spin on the mystery crate that arrived on the February 16 edition of WWE Raw would be for Danhausen to emerge from it.
With the crate reading “Deliver to WWE” as well as instructions not to open it until February 28, the date of Elimination Chamber — perhaps the long absent AEW star is inside.
Despite being a notable fan favorite and merchandise mover (with new AEW merch continuing to drop throughout his absence), Danhausen hasn’t competed on AEW or ROH TV in two years.
With rumors persisting that he may be WWE bound in the near future, popping out of the crate in Chicago could be a fantastic surprise.

4. Jacob Fatu Costs Cody Rhodes The Elimination Chamber Match
In a bout with high stakes ahead of WrestleMania 42, it would make complete sense to see some sort of shock surprise go down during the Men’s Elimination Chamber match.
With Jacob Fatu hellbent on forcing his way into Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre’s inevitable rematch, we could see “The Samoan Werewolf” attempt to throw a spanner into the Undisputed WWE Title situation.
With the potential of more twists and turns as Rhodes attempts to get back into the main event in Las Vegas, perhaps Fatu is the perfect foil for his feud with McIntyre.
Adding in an additional element of suspense, it might be risky to split the crowd’s affections further between Rhodes and Fatu, but in the end — wrestling has more than one royal family after all.

3. The Final Boss Returns
While he hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since his shock appearance at last year’s Elimination Chamber, perhaps this year’s event in Chicago will also see a surprise appearance from “The Final Boss.”
Since Roman Reigns is set to take on CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, there could certainly be some Bloodline shenanigans afoot but moreover, The Rock might be back to haunt Cody Rhodes.
With Cody Rhodes needing a victory in the Elimination Chamber bout in order to guarantee he is back in the running for Undisputed WWE Championship, a major interference would certainly gum up the works.
Possibly revealing a brand new alliance (with the masked man, Jacob Fatu or even a returning Seth Rollins), there could be a big new story for The Rock set to start in WWE ahead of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

2. Bianca Belair Returns
After being out of action for nearly a year due to an injury sustained at WrestleMania 41, it could be that Bianca Belair is on the verge of return.
Breaking multiple fingers during her WWE Women’s World Championship match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY, the healing process was not linear but there have been some recent good news.
Posting about undergoing a surgery on her affected hand on February 16, Belair has since revealed that she is finally putting the situation behind her.
While Elimination Chamber may come a bit too soon given how recent her surgery was, Belair could be poised to finally challenge Jade Cargill at WrestleMania 42 or perhaps in the immediate aftermath of the two-night event.

1. Mystery Crate Holds Another Mystery
While some WWE fans remain certain that Chris Jericho will be soon be returning to the company, there haven’t been any official announcements and Jericho is still listed as a member of the AEW roster.
While Jericho’s deal reportedly could have been frozen by AEW, Jericho’s UK tour with his band Fozzy is wrapping up on February 21 – so the dates do at least align for the legend to appear in Chicago at Elimination Chamber if his contract situation gets sorted out.
In what could be a highly effective move to ratchet up even more drama and speculation, the inside of the crate could be revealed to be a part of the mystery that eventually leads to Jericho’s WWE return.
If the inside of the crate featured a signature countdown clock or even a QR code, fans could begin to spend time en masse following the hints to try and crack the Code of Jericho.
