6 New WWE Tag Team Signings

Earlier this year, WWE SmackDown’s tag team division was firing on all cylinders with the arrival of Axiom from NXT, the presence of veteran standouts DIY and the Motor City Machine Guns, and the short-lived formation of the impressive duo of Fenix and Andrade.

In recent months, however, momentum has cooled, with The Wyatt Sicks holding the titles amid a storyline-heavy feud with The Street Profits.

Meanwhile, over on Raw, The Judgment Day remain tag champions, but the belts have received little focus in recent weeks.

There are, however, countless talented tag teams outside WWE — and if Paul Levesque wanted to reignite the division, there are plenty of options. WrestleTalk considers which teams WWE could look to bring in.

6. The Hardys

On the 7 October edition of NXT — the special NXT vs. TNA Wrestling episode — The Hardy Boys captured the NXT Tag Team Championships, becoming double champions in the process.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the legendary team were hugely over with the NXT audience, receiving the loudest reactions of the night.

Now holding WWE gold once again, it appears we’re moving closer to a full-time return for the duo in the promotion that made them globally recognised stars.

The only question is how soon we’ll see them begin what seems destined to be their final run — and their inevitable induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

5. Nic & Ryan Nemeth

In September 2023, Dolph Ziggler was released from WWE, ending a near 20-year run with the company.

Adopting his real name, Nic Nemeth, he has since competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling and AAA — now owned by WWE — before settling in TNA Wrestling.

For much of this year, the 45-year-old has teamed with his brother Ryan as The Nemeths, capturing the TNA World Tag Team Titles.

Quickly proving themselves to be an effective team, could we soon see Nemeth returning to his old stomping grounds — this time joined by his brother?

4. Private Party

AEW tag team Private Party

Former AEW Tag Team Champions Private Party lost their titles to The Hurt Syndicate in January but haven’t been seen in the company since.

Speculation has continued to mount that their long absence may be due to them imminently leaving AEW — a situation that would hardly be unprecedented, as Tony Khan has previously opted to keep departing talents off television.

If that’s the case, it seems likely that the charismatic, high-flying duo will attract interest from WWE.

The only question is — given their previous prominence in AEW — do they go straight to the main roster, or make a stop in NXT first?

3. Sinner and Saint

Sinner and Saint are another team currently signed with TNA Wrestling.

Until recently, the duo were part of a unit with company stalwart and former TNA World Champion Eric Young under the name The Northern Armoury — though in their year with the company, little has been done with them.

Their best work has been on the indies, particularly in DEFY Wrestling, where they are the reigning Tag Team Champions and consistently deliver standout performances for the high profile Seattle-based promotion.

Creative, cohesive, and with palpable chemistry, Sinner and Saint would make a valuable addition to WWE’s tag team division.

2. The Young Guns

The Young Guns are currently the tag team champions of the UK’s biggest independent promotion, RevPro.

More than that, Luke Jacobs and Ethan Allen are arguably the best working tag team in Europe — a claim backed up up by their recent outstanding bout against AEW’s Grizzled Young Veterans at RevPro’s 13th Anniversary Show.

Teaming since 2018, the British duo work together with seamless chemistry, delivering a hard-hitting, Japanese-influenced in-ring style.

Both still in their mid-20s, the pair seem perfectly positioned for WWE to bring them in — potentially starting with a run in NXT.

1. The Aztec Warriors

Lucha team The Aztec Warriors — Laredo Kid and Octagon Jr. — were released from TNA Wrestling this week.

Despite being two of the most talented in-ring workers on the roster, little was done with either man during their time in the company.

The duo recently impressed on the AAA/WWE crossover show World’s Collide, delivering the standout bout of the night alongside La Parka and Mascarita Sagrada against Lince Dorado, Cruz Del Toro, Joaquin Wilde, and Mini Abismo Negro.

Given WWE clearly has eyes on them and their current free-agent status, it seems only a matter of time before the high-flying pair officially sign with the company.
