Gunther has been destroying people on the main roster for three weeks now.
The Austrian ring general is able to show is his craft through various squash matches, being accompanied by his friend Ludwig Kaiser.
In addition, he is scheduled to face Sami Zayn during WWE’s European tour. But it does not seem likely that we are going to see a heel vs. heel storyline on television.
Furthermore, it looks like WWE wants to push Gunther as a singles star therefore it rules out faction warfare.
Although Gunther and Kaiser were upset with the split from Fabian Aicher with whom they formed IMPERIUM on NXT.
That being said, who would most likely feud with Gunther to establish him in the WWE Universe?
5. Kofi Kingston
Both Gunther and Kofi Kingston are among the most decorated professional wrestlers in the entire world and of all time.
While Kingston won all his gold in WWE, Gunther can look back on one of the most dominant runs in indy wrestling history.
A longer storyline with the highly positive Kingston would certainly work well with the ultra-serious Gunther.
In addition, it sets up a rivalry that would also include Ludwig Kaiser inside the ring, who could square off with Kingston’s partner Xavier Woods.
4. Roman Reigns
In the shark tank that is WWE Gunther certainly is a Megalodon.
Arguably one of the greatest and most talented signings in over a decade, there are not many that pose an actual threat to him.
One of them certainly is the reigning and defending undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The Head of the Table. The Tribal Chief.
This is only ranked so low, because giving away a high-profile match like this early would certainly be a waste.
Down the line, however, it most likely is going to headline a major WWE event.
3. Shinsuke Nakamura
Nakamura has to be on Gunther’s personal bucket list since the ring general is a big fan of Japanese strong-style wrestling.
The unlimited charisma and in-ring skill of Nakamura mixed with Gunther’s brute strength and powerful chops certainly make for many memorable moments.
Given Nakamura is very unorthodox inside the squared circle it is going to give Kaiser and Gunther a lot to be disgusted about as they view the mat as sacred ground.
2. Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre has challenged Gunther multiple times already since the former NXT UK Champion has signed with WWE.
No wonder, as the two had both dominated the European wrestling scene in the past and are no strangers to insane violence.
The eventual clash between the two titans is going to be sight.
The big question is going to be: What cuts deeper? Drew’s sword or Gunther’s chop?
1. Ricochet
Easily the top answer for everyone currently working on the blue brand in question to face Gunther.
The current Intercontinental Champion not only has some gold for Gunther to put around his waist, but he is also the perfect first victim.
Gunther works best with smaller opponents and – despite not being used this way by WWE – Ricochet is still one of the best smaller wrestlers in the entire world.
Give Gunther Ricochet, now!
