5 New WWE Tag Teams To Form

WWE SmackDown’s men’s tag-team division is currently stacked, with its quality exemplified by the recent TLC ladder match between the Street Profits, DIY, and the Motor City Machine Guns on April 25.

Despite the quality of those teams and many others across Raw, NXT and SmackDown, the men’s and women’s tag team divisions could benefit from a shake-up and a refresh.

One way of doing this would be by putting new teams together – with many stars in need of new direction and opportunity.

Here are five new WWE tag teams to form soon:

5. Ilja Dragunov & Sheamus

One would be hard-pressed to find two performers more stylistically suited to team up than Ilja Dragunov and Sheamus.

With their hard-striking, stiff, no-nonsense, and intense styles, they are a perfect match.

Dragunov is currently out injured and it’s unclear when he will make his return, while Sheamus has only been used sporadically on television with his return also up in the air.

Teaming with the younger Dragunov could be the fresh injection Sheamus needs to reignite his WWE career, so hopefully we see these two Europeans mix it up when they’re both back on TV.

4. Natalya & Karmen Petrovic

Both Natalya and NXT’s Karmen Petrovic appeared at GCW’s independent show Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport over WrestleMania 41 week.

At the event Nattie and Petrovic delivered noteworthy performances against Tokyo Joshi Pro’s Miyu Yamashita and Stardom’s Maika, respectively.

Both proved themselves highly capable in the shoot-style format, showcasing hard striking and submission-based offence.

Forming a tag team built around this unique style could elevate the pair – showcasing them as worthy challengers for Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

3. AJ Styles & Andrade

AJ Styles lost to Logan Paul at WrestleMania, and seems poised to potentially challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship in the near future.

Andrade, meanwhile, has been used infrequently on WWE programming and risks fading from focus, despite consistently delivering when it comes to in-ring performances.

A potential tag team pairing of these two dynamic, high-flying performers could be just the spark both need.

Two of WWE’s most gifted in-ring performers, Styles and Andrade could immediately shake up the tag team division and target championship gold on either Raw or SmackDown.

2. Tiffany Stratton & Jade Cargill

On the 2 May episode of SmackDown, Jade Cargill and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton brawled with Nia Jax and Naomi.

This confrontation followed their own match the previous week, which was interrupted by both Jax and Naomi.

Cargill and Naomi are continuing their feud, while the returning Jax appears set to challenge Stratton for her title.

Despite their separate rivalries, it seems likely that Cargill and Stratton will form a tag team of convenience in the coming weeks to take on Jax and Naomi.

1. The Lucha Bros

The seeds were planted for the Lucha Brothers to reform their iconic tag team this week on Raw, when Chad Gable insulted Penta’s real-life brother, Fénix for his loss at WrestleMania.

The Lucha Brothers have been one of the best tag teams in the world for over half a decade, and while both are excellent performers in their own right, they’re at their best when teaming together as brothers.

Sooner rather than later, WWE audiences will witness their greatness first-hand and gold will no doubt be in their future.

While they may continue on their separate paths for now, expect a union at some point in 2025.
