With the Road to WrestleMania 42 well underway, there are some seeds planted for potential WWE championship shifts after the dust settles on the big event.

From bringing back former titles, to creating a brand new division that could already be stacked with big name competitors, there are some very interesting options that could emerge soon.

Here are five new WWE championships that could be introduced after WrestleMania 42.

5. WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship

The NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles were a featured part of the brand for just over two years after being introduced in March 2021.

In June 2023 the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship were unified with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, with those titles being defended across the main roster and NXT.

Despite NXT stars being eligible to challenge for the gold, main roster talent receive far more opportunities than NXT stars, so it would be nice to see the brand get back their own titles.

Invigorating a tag team scene on NXT, the titles could also end up being a great division to see WWE ID and Evolve talent make the jump over to NXT from time to time.

4. WWE Trios Championship

A brand new title that could launch on the main roster would be a WWE Trios Championship.

With a variety of compelling groups on the main roster like the Judgment Day, the MFTs, Wyatt Sicks and The Vision, there is certainly enough room for a dedicated six-man tag team division.

Potentially becoming the next titles to be held by The Bloodline, perhaps Roman Reigns and The Usos would end up being the big name inaugural title holders WWE could use to help launch the new championship.

Another championship that could float between brands and even see challengers from NXT, AAA or even TNA Wrestling — the division could bring together some memorable moments.

3. WWE Mixed Tag Team Championship

One concept that could prove to be a lot of fun would be the creation of a WWE Mixed Tag Team Championship.

With the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship already hosting some intriguing matches featuring WWE talent from both NXT and the main roster, it would seem a likely next step to see the concept advance would be WWE embracing it for their roster.

Since both WWE Raw and SmackDown are plentiful with mixed tag teams that could be those married in real life like CM Punk & AJ Lee and Aleister Black & Zelina Vega, the concept also leaves room for storyline partnerships as well.

With fan favorite friendships like Rhea Ripley & Damian Priest and Chelsea Green & Ethan Page, it could be a fun new division that spans across WWE Raw, SmackDown and NXT.

2. AAA Speed Championship

One fun way to bring AAA action to WWE main roster fans could be through instituting a AAA Speed Championship to also be defended on WWE TV.

Able to fit in the fast matches during the broadcast, there could end up being a vehicle for main roster viewers to keep up with some of the bigger names in AAA.

Bringing together NXT stars and AAA stars to compete for the this speed title, the matches could serve as a proving ground for promising NXT talent on the rise as well.

Easily shared on social media, the bouts could be a fun way for talent to get a fresh look from fans who may be unfamiliar with all of the characters across AAA & NXT storylines.

1. WWE Hardcore Championship

One concept that could return to WWE in a modern context is the WWE Hardcore Championship.

With the title leaning more towards the brutal and violent instead of the bloody gore of the past, there is an immediate group of potential challengers.

Since the likes of Drew McIntyre, Jacob Fatu and Randy Orton are clearly already ready to go to intense lengths to win, the title could become an important badge of honor for the roster.

Able to represent effectively which WWE star was the most willing to go to great lengths to win, there could be some memorable matches that come from the resurrection of the classic title.
