In the wake of WrestleDream, AEW is now moving towards its next PPV, Full Gear, on November 22 in Newark, New Jersey.

However, what’s noticeable is that the company has recently been dealing with a spate of absences. Some of the company’s missing stars, however, could be on the verge of making their return.

Here are five potential AEW returns coming soon.

5. Swerve Strickland

One of AEW’s top babyface stars Swerve Strickland has been out of action on AEW programming since August’s Forbidden Door PPV — where he lost to Kazuchika Okada.

The 35-year-old has been dealing with a meniscus injury that required surgery at the end of August, but his return could now be imminent.

This past week, Fightful reported that there is hope Strickland could be back in December.

Could we see Swerve make his long-awaited return at AEW’s final PPV of the year, World’s End, on 28 December?

4. Syuri

Syuri is one of Japan’s top joshi stars, recently recapturing the IWGP Women’s Heavyweight Championship.

The supremely talented performer was set to join AEW for an excursion over the summer — first appearing in the Casino Gauntlet at All In this past July — however, an unfortunate injury requiring surgery prevented that from happening.

However, fans will be hoping we could soon see her return for an extended run before the end of the year.

A former UFC veteran and one of the best in-ring workers in the world, Syuri now holds the IWGP Women’s Championship — could we see her as Mercedes Moné’s opponent at AEW’s final PPV of the year, World’s End?

3. Britt Baker

Britt Baker has not been seen on AEW programming for nearly a year — her last bout coming on Dynamite against Penelope Ford in November 2024.

There has been heavy speculation throughout the past year regarding her continued absence and potential return.

The extended hiatus has led many to suggest that Baker’s AEW run may effectively be over with her sitting out the remainder of her lengthy contract; however, AEW owner Tony Khan offered hope of a return last week on Z100’s podcast, noting that “she’s still very much with us and at some point, hopefully soon, I’d love to see Dr. Britt Baker come back.”

The question now is: could that “soon” come before the end of the year?

2. “Switchblade” Jay White

“Switchblade” Jay White has been out of action since March after suffering a broken hand.

It was initially reported that the 33-year-old star would be sidelined for the remainder of the year.

However, White recently returned to social media with a simple message — “Ready?”

Hardly cryptic, this suggests that the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is close to making his return to action — but could we see it happen as soon as AEW’s Full Gear in November?

1. MJF

AEW's MJF

MJF is not injured but has been absent from AEW since September, following his brutal Tacks and Tables loss to Mark Briscoe at All Out on September 20.

The 29-year-old is currently off television filming another movie project: Violent Night 2.

However, it appears likely that we’ll see him back on AEW programming soon — and given that he still has a storyline contract for an AEW World Heavyweight Championship rematch, a return to challenge Hangman Page seems inevitable.

With Full Gear expected to feature Page once again defending against Samoa Joe, could we see MJF appear after the match — attacking Hangman and setting up a big-time main event for World’s End?
