12 AEW Dream Matches For Adam Cole

Following Kenny Omega’s title defence against Christian Cage at AEW All Out, who should make his return from the dead but Adam Cole.

Cole made his way to the ring, standing opposite The Elite and promptly turned heel, rejoining his friends. That sure is one way to forgive murder.

Now with Cole signed to All Elite Wrestling, the fantasy booking machine can start revving up. There are dozens of potential dream matches for Cole to have in AEW and hey, let’s take a look at some of the biggest ones.

These are the 12 biggest AEW dream matches for Adam Cole.

12. Rey Fenix

Every single time Rey Fenix is given a chance to shine he knocks it out of the park.

This has been seen multiple times over in AEW with classic matches with Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, and his brother Penta El Zero Miedo.

While this likely wouldn’t be a pay-per-view match or anything resulting in a long feud, a match between Adam Cole and Rey Fenix is all kinds of exciting.

If you want to give Cole an opponent to go full-PWG with, Fenix could be the guy.

11. Orange Cassidy

Not only is Adam Cole one of the most exciting wrestlers in the world, but he is also one of the most entertaining.

With that in mind, how cool would it be to see him face the biggest entertainer in AEW, Orange Cassidy? Cassidy has proven that he is not just a comedy act and is capable of being a main event wrestler in AEW.

If he needs another opponent to clash with, Cole would be a welcome challenge. They are both exceptional wrestlers but the comedic moments they could pull off together are perhaps even more exciting.

10. Darby Allin

There are many up-and-coming stars in AEW but Darby Allin might be the most popular. His connection with the audience and young fans in particular is special and after wrestling CM Punk, he has proven himself as a main event player.

It would seem like Allin’s trajectory will see him continue to climb the ranks of AEW and before long a match with Adam Cole could be presented with these two as equals.

This speaks to how much AEW has done to push Allin and how much he has done to connect with audiences. Also, that match would be an absolute banger.

9. MJF

Adam Cole had very kind words for MJF’s promos during the All Out media scrum. It is clear they are both in the top tier of wrestling promos these days and a promo battle between them would be even more exciting than a match.

That being said, the match would be pretty great too. Both are currently heels and with MJF that seems unlikely to change soon.

To get the full effect it would be best to wait for Cole to be a babyface for this match but when that happens prepare to be blown away. MJF wrestles a very old-school style and combining that with Cole’s modern hybrid style is very intriguing.

8. Andrade El Idolo

Andrade El Idolo and Adam Cole wrestled under the WWE umbrella simultaneously for four years but never wrestled on television.

That is booking malpractice but at least it means it can happen for the first time in AEW.

Andrade hasn’t wrestled much since arriving in AEW and hasn’t shown much of the potential fans know he has.

This could change very soon with his match with PAC but if Andrade needs a big opponent to kickstart his AEW run, who better than Adam Cole?

7. Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley has been arguably AEW’s most protected star since the company’s inception. He rarely ever loses and had a nearly year-long reign as AEW World Champion. Aside from Kenny Omega, it doesn’t get bigger.

This is also another match that could have happened in WWE but didn’t. Moxley and Cole were both there from 2017-2019 when Moxley left and because Cole was locked away in NXT, the match never happened.

Now, the pretty boy from Panama City can run headfirst into the brawler from Cincinnati.

This is perhaps the biggest clash of styles on the whole list but one that can lend itself to Cole taking a tremendous beating and ultimately looking all the better for it.

6. PAC

Boy, PAC sure is great isn’t he? One of the most dynamic performers in the business, great matches follow PAC wherever he goes.

It is almost certain that the same will be said for Adam Cole in AEW but pair these two together and you are sure to get an absolute classic. These two passed each other likes ships in the night in 2017 as Cole arrived in WWE as PAC left.

Four years later, we finally have the opportunity to see this match for the first time. PAC has had arguably Kenny Omega’s best singles match in AEW and all signs point to the same being possible for Cole.

5. Chris Jericho

Similar to Chris Jericho’s feud with MJF, there are a lot of similarities between Jericho and Adam Cole.

Cole has the charisma, promo ability, and in-ring acumen of a young Chris Jericho and a match between them would just feel right.

Cole has often been compared to Jericho’s idol, Shawn Michaels, so maybe Jericho will be interested to see what all the hype is about.

Jericho’s run in AEW has further cemented himself as one of the all-time greats and a rivalry with Adam Cole could be his best AEW work yet.

4. Jungle Boy

When asked about who he wanted to face in AEW after All Out, Adam Cole named Jungle Boy as a possible opponent.

It is no secret that Jungle Boy has quickly become one of AEW’s most popular underdogs. Although it never stops being amazing how far he has come given his limited experience.

Now, with industry veterans wanting to work with him, Jungle Boy has the opportunity to take even more steps forward in his development. Enter Adam Cole.

Cole is without question one of the most talented performers in wrestling and Jungle Boy has continued to show that he has the potential to be that great as well. This match will probably be a totem pole match, with Jungle Boy being tested to see just how high he sits on the AEW roster.

3. Hangman Page

Adam Cole and Adam Page. Both men joined Bullet Club on the same night in 2016 and have taken interesting paths since.

While Cole was the established star who went on to success in NXT, Page stayed with Bullet Club and has become AEW’s most sympathetic babyface. He may have taken the longer route, but Page has certainly solidified his position.

There is so much history to draw from in a match between Page and Cole. Cole is the friend who came back to The Elite with Page still exiled, after all.

The possibilities for storytelling are endless and they are even more exciting than a potential match. I would still quite like to see the match, though.

2. CM Punk

It sure is fun to be able to list CM Punk on lists like this and have it not be a pipedream, isn’t it? With CM Punk having officially made his in-ring return, now we can start looking to the future.

Having debuted just a few weeks apart, CM Punk and Adam Cole are coming into AEW at the same time. Both have a lot of opponents ahead of them but anyone who isn’t excited about the potential match they could have needs to check their pulse.

Two of the biggest stars in Ring of Honor history, they have followed similar career paths in wrestling. Punk’s may have been considerably bumpier, but they have both arrived at the same place at the same time.

Punk can still go, as seen at All Out, and now we just have to wait and see how long it takes for the dream matches to start happening on a regular basis.

1. Kenny Omega

The match that never got to happen the first time. It was clear during Cole’s run in Bullet Club that a match between him and Kenny Omega was the goal. However, it never happened with Cole signing with WWE in 2017.

Now, we have the chance to finally see it. With Cole joining The Elite it doesn’t appear that the match will happen in the near future. However, that makes the build all the more exciting.

AEW has shown that they are able to put on long-term stories better than anyone right now. The slow-burn story culminating with the long-awaited match between Cole and Omega is fantasy booking rocket fuel.

Omega has been on an incredible run as AEW World Champion, carrying the company as its best performer. Now, he has yet another potential classic rival waiting in the wings.

For now, all we can do is dream about it.
