WWE Star Reacts To Being Called The Undertaker Of The Indies

A WWE star has reacted to being called ‘The Undertaker of the Indies’ by a fellow champion and countryman.

In a recent interview with Fox News, NXT Champion Joe Hendry referred to Drew McIntyre as “our Undertaker” when looking at their shared time on the independent wrestling scene.

With Joe Hendry sharing his pride at having worked with McIntyre, the Undisputed WWE Champion has now responded to the respect shown.

Speaking to The Sportster, McIntyre reflected on being respected in the locker room, comparing it to other types of praise, saying:

“It means the world to me to be respected by everyone in the locker room more than anything else.

“It’s cool, the fans have their appreciation, or boo me, I don’t care either way, but they react, they care emotionally.

“It’s cool when management feel a certain way or book you a certain way, but the biggest thing for me has always been, ‘for the boys.’ That’s like always the quote backstage. When you’re one of the boys, it’s always for the boys.

“When I walked back with the title, a lot of our superstars backstage kind of gave me a standing ovation at catering, that meant more to me than anything else.”

Hendry last faced McIntyre (then Drew Galloway) back in February 2017 , challenging for the WCPW World Championship.

McIntyre had been released from his WWE contract in June 2014 and would make a return to independent wrestling as Drew Galloway in Scotland-based Insane Championship Wrestling the following month.

He would head to EVOLVE and TNA Wrestling, along with many other independent promotions, before being re-signed by WWE in April 2017.

With Joe Hendry being the current NXT champion, he has recently revealed his next goal in his WWE career.
