With John Cena heading into his penultimate WWE match this Saturday at Survivor Series, long-time rival CM Punk was asked who he feels would be the “perfect” final opponent for the 17-time champion.
The past several weeks of WWE programming have seen 16 stars battle it out in the Last Time is Now Tournament to determine John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
The field has mostly featured talent that have yet to mix it up with Cena during his last year in the company, with the likes of GUNTHER, Solo Sikoa and LA Knight remaining in the mix for the opportunity.
Speaking to Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show, Punk said that a match between himself and Cena would have been “perfect” as his last one, but he thinks that GUNTHER is the star likeliest to receive that opportunity:
“Perfect probably would have been me.
“Right now, I don’t know it’s perfect but it’s looking like GUNTHER because I’ve been in the ring with him and I know what he can do, and I don’t know who else in the tournament can beat him right now.”

After defeating Carmelo Hayes on Raw, GUNTHER will take on Solo Sikoa in the semi-finals of the Last Time is Now Tournament – with Sikoa defeating Penta on Monday’s show.
