A new match has been announced for tomorrow night’s January 24 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Saturday Night’s Main Event tomorrow takes place at Centre Bell, the same venue as tonight’s SmackDown.
SNME also comes one week before this year’s Royal Rumble, which will see GUNTHER face AJ Styles in a match where Styles’ career is on the line.
Styles announced last year that 2026 would be his final year in the ring, so whether he retires as soon as the Rumble or not, he doesn’t have many big matches left either way.
With his career coming to a close, Styles will be revisiting an old rivalry at Saturday Night’s Main Event in a match against Shinsuke Nakamura.
Styles and Nakamura had a months-long feud over the WWE Championship back in 2018, and had also met in NJPW before they both joined WWE in 2016.
Backstage on SmackDown tonight, General Manager Nick Aldis was questioning Styles about his decision to put his career on the line against GUNTHER at the Rumble, when Nakamura walked in and challenged Styles to a match tomorrow.
Nakamura also said a few months ago that his own career is winding down, though he hasn’t been as specific as Styles about a final year.
