An update has emerged regarding a potential big backstage change for this week’s WWE Royal Rumble premium live event in Riyadh.
The Rumble taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 31 has some clashes with other shows under the WWE and TKO umbrella.
As such, PWInsider Elite reports that Marty Miller, a big backstage presence, will not be traveling with WWE to the Royal Rumble.
Miller is the usual director for WWE Raw and the company’s premium live events, but instead of being at the Rumble, he’ll be working as the director for TKO’s Zuffa Boxing event taking place in the US this week.
His replacement is expected to be Lee Lipschutz, the usual director for SmackDown and PLE pre/post-shows.
In other Rumble absence news, PWInsider Elite has revealed three main roster names who also won’t be traveling to Riyadh due to being booked for NXT live events in the US.
Those three names are Raw’s Grayson Waller and SmackDown’s Street Profits tag team of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins. (UPDATE: Waller has actually since been seen in Riyadh with PWInsider noting he’s been replaced at the NXT live event by Santos Escobar).
Ford and Dawkins have been absent from WWE TV since October, not because of any injury or an issue with either member, but just due to creative.
