A top WWE star has stated his belief that there’s no real difference between main eventing night one and night two of WrestleMania.
Since WrestleMania 36 in 2020, Mania has been a two-night show, meaning there are now two main events – the last match of each night.
However, some would argue that the ‘real’ main event is the last match of the second night, and being the main event of the first night is something of a consolation prize.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has shared his thoughts, which is that he doesn’t differentiate between the two nights.
Appearing on Up & Adams, Punk said:
“This is often debated. I think WrestleMania is so big, and I think our roster is so deep, it’s hard to spotlight all the talented people who deserve those spots.
“To me, two nights is better than one. I don’t really differentiate between night one and night two. I look at it like a Lollapalooza or another festival – there are multiple nights, you’ve got a headliner every single night.
“Last year, (main eventing) night one afforded me the ability to be completely stress free night two and I got to be a fan and I got to sit and watch the show, so I loved that.”

Last year at WWE WrestleMania 41, Punk vs Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins main evented night one, which was Punk’s first ever Mania main event.
This year, he’s set to defend his World Title against Reigns in what is being promoted as “the main event” of WrestleMania 42 – it hasn’t been officially specified which night it’ll be, but the expectation currently is night two.
