The planned WWE WrestleMania 42 opponent for Roman Reigns following his win in the 2026 Royal Rumble match has emerged.
Reigns won his second Rumble match yesterday – previously winning in back 2015 – after entering at #26 and last eliminating #30 entrant GUNTHER.
The win means Reigns has a guaranteed match for either the World Heavyweight Championship or the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania in April.
The World Title is currently held by CM Punk on Raw, while Drew McIntyre holds the WWE Title on SmackDown.
As reported by the Wrestling Observer, the current plan is for Roman Reigns vs CM Punk to take place at WrestleMania.
At WrestleMania 41 last year, the night one main event saw Seth Rollins win a three-way that also featured Reigns and Punk after Paul Heyman betrayed both of them to form an alliance with Rollins.
The Observer also notes that Drew McIntyre vs Cody Rhodes is planned for WrestleMania right now as well.
Drew McIntyre retained the WWE Championship against Sami Zayn at Royal Rumble, and later showed up to eliminated Rhodes from the Rumble match despite the Scot not being a participant himself.
The report states that Jacob Fatu could also be added to the McIntyre/Rhodes match after his recent return that has seen him feuding with both.
Previous plans for WrestleMania 42 called for a part three of Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes after their main events at WrestleMania 39 and 40, but Triple H decided to change things from that direction as he felt it would have been too repetitive.
