AEW Grand Slam Australia is now in the history books, and Kyle Fletcher has shared an emotional message to his home country.
The February 14 AEW Grand Slam Australia saw Kyle Fletcher retain the TNT Championship against Mark Briscoe, with a new pink title belt being revealed.
With a weekend of AEW action in Australia now at an end, Fletcher sent a message to the nation’s fans on Twitter, tweeting:
“My heart is full, thank you, Australia”
The post was accompanied by a photo of Fletcher atop the ladder with the traditional TNT Championship, with the message being accompanied by a double-heart and Australia flag emoji.
Ahead of Grand Slam Australia, Fletcher returned to PWA, a promotion that he frequented during his early career, and promised to return to the region as a World Champion.
A two-time TNT Champion, Fletcher’s first reign was brought to an end by Mark Briscoe at Full Gear in November of last year.
The TNT Championship would switch hands on the January 31 episode of AEW Collision, with Tommaso Ciampa defeating Mark Briscoe, only for Fletcher to re-capture it on the February 11 episode of Dynamite.
