Another update has emerged regarding whether AJ Styles is really fully retired after the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble premium live event.

Royal Rumble saw AJ Styles lose a match against GUNTHER with the stipulation that if Styles lost, he’d have to retire.

Months ago, Styles had announced that 2026 would be his final year in the ring, but didn’t specify exactly when in 2026 he was planning to end his run.

However, because of wrestling history and how retirements often aren’t actually retirements – and also the fact that Styles didn’t leave his boots and/or gloves in the ring – there have been question marks over whether this could just be the end of Styles’ WWE tenure with him possibly leaving the company to wrestle elsewhere before eventually calling it the end of his career.

During the official WWE Royal Rumble post-show, Peter Rosenberg said that he’d spoken to Styles and Styles had told him it was definitely a full retirement, and he wasn’t planning to wrestle elsewhere afterwards.

However, again because of the nature of wrestling retirements, Rosenberg’s comments weren’t believed by a lot of fans.

Some theories even went as far as saying it was an attempt to make Styles look bad if he does opt to make an in-ring return somewhere else.

Rosenberg has now addressed the response to his comments in a new video on social media. He said:

“Just got off the plane, and I see a lot of chatter on the internet about the fact that on the post-show, I said I spoke to AJ Styles and his in-ring career is over.

“I don’t know why this gets people angry, besides the fact that y’all just hate on me for everything I say and do. I try to give real information on the post-show.

“I wasn’t gonna say every word AJ told me because it was a private conversation, but I can tell you what the theme was – he is done.

“And again, you guys don’t pay attention. You just scream and get mad when you see something you wanna scream and get mad about.

“I’ve been saying for months, I hoped the plan was that if he lost, he goes to TNA and we see more of AJ Styles.

“All I can report is what he told me. That he’s done.

“Now, if he’s working me, fantastic, I love being worked. I don’t know if you know this, I love professional wrestling.

“But you guys getting mad and thinking I’m hating on AJ because he says it’s done, I don’t know what you want.

“He wrestled, he lost, he’s retired. Get a life.”
