Whether it be due to wanting to get into championship contention or seeking solo glory, there are some WWE tag team members who could be looking to go on their own.
With the road to WrestleMania 42 underway, there could be any number of singles stars emerging in the weeks to come from various tag teams on the roster.
Here are eight WWE tag team members to potentially become singles stars.
8. Asuka

After making her return to WWE in 2025, Asuka reunited with Kairi Sane to reform The Kabuki Warriors.
With Asuka domineering over Sane in recent months, tensions between the two reached their apex at WWE Royal Rumble 2026, when Sane accidentally eliminated Asuka from the Women’s Royal Rumble Match.
On the February 16 edition of WWE Raw, Asuka defeated Bayley and Nattie to qualify for the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match.
With “The Empress of Tomorrow” now set to compete in the Chamber and potentially challenging for one of the women’s world titles at WrestleMania 42, Asuka could be on the verge of leaving Sane behind.

7. Axiom

During his time on WWE NXT, Axiom was one of the most impressive in-ring performers on the brand.
Since getting called up to the main roster, Axiom has showcased his spectacular array of talents inside the squared circle mostly as a tag team with Nathan Frazer.
The masked man has also shown himself to be accomplished on his own as a singles star and could break out to get himself into title contention.
While Fraxiom should be contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships, Axiom might be able to climb the ladder if he were to split away from Frazer.

6. Nathan Frazer

Speaking of Axiom, Nathan Frazer is another tag team member who could rise to prominence as a singles star.
During his time on WWE NXT, Frazer became the Heritage Cup Champion and a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion.
With his speed and technical ability, Frazer is someone who may have what it takes to become a singles champion on the WWE main roster.
Breaking away from Axiom, Nathan Frazer could answer Carmelo Hayes’ United States Championship Open Challenge or even position himself further up the card for a world title at some point.

5. Montez Ford

Ever since losing the WWE Tag Team Championships to The Wyatt Sicks in the summer of 2025, The Street Profits have been absent from the company’s programming as of late.
Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins recently made their return during a WWE NXT live event, but they have still not shown up on the company’s television since September of last year.
For several years, there have been rumors about The Street Profits potentially splitting up for Ford and Dawkins to become singles stars.
With his ability inside the squared circle and having plenty of star qualities, Ford would be a wonderful solo star who checks every box to become a champion on his own away from The Street Profits.

4. ZARIA

During the NXT 2025 Year-End Awards, ZaRuca won the award for Tag Team of the Year.
However, ZARIA and Sol Ruca have been going through their issues as of late over their own singles aspirations.
With Ruca recently earning a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship, it feels like ZARIA has had enough of standing in the shadow of her tag team partner and is ready to break out on her own.
After growing frustrated with all the success that Sol has gotten, it might just be a matter of time before ZARIA turns on Ruca and becomes a singles star without the burden of ZaRuca.

3. Sol Ruca

Speaking of ZARIA, Sol Ruca seems to be ready to stand on her own two feet without her tag team partner.
On the February 24 edition of WWE NXT, Ruca will challenge Jacy Jayne for the NXT Championship.
While ZARIA helped her fight off Fatal Influence on the February 17 NXT, it has seemed more and more likely that ZaRuca will go their separate ways sooner rather than later.
With a win to become NXT Women’s Champion, Sol Ruca could be ready to split from ZARIA and finally be on her own again on top of the NXT women’s division.

2. Chris Sabin

Since signing with WWE in 2024, Motor City Machine Guns seemed like a huge addition to the tag team scene.
Winning the WWE Tag Team Championships in just three matches, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley showed why they are regarded as one of the greatest tag teams of their generation.
However, the past year has seen The Motor City Machine Guns take more of a backseat over on Friday Night SmackDown.
It might be time for Sabin to show why he is still a well established solo star who is a former TNA World Champion by competing in singles competition in WWE.

1. Alex Shelley

While Chris Sabin had plenty of accolades on his own during his time in TNA Wrestling, Alex Shelley is someone who has displayed his skills as a singles star in every promotion he’s been in.
From Ring of Honor to TNA Wrestling, Shelley has been known as one of the best technical wrestlers of his generation.
Being an influence and inspiration for so many independent wrestlers during the 2000s, Shelley should be able to showcase his skills in the ring by splitting from Sabin in WWE.
Shelley splitting up Motor City Machine Guns would open the door for one of the pioneers of the indie boom of the 2000s to climb the ladder in WWE on his own away from Chris Sabin.
