WWE SummerSlam 2024 is drawing closer and reports of potential returns are already making the rounds. Here are 6 we could see in Cleveland.

SummerSlam is one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year, therefore it is almost a given that Triple H has something up his sleeve.

2022 saw the formation of Damage CTRL; 2023 saw the shock heel turn of Jimmy Uso on his brother Jey; what’s going to be the big twist this year?

With John Cena’s shocking return of Money In The Bank, the bar is high for whoever does it next.

Fortunately for WWE, there are a number of stars waiting in line to step back into that ring.

Let’s see who is potentially waiting in the wings.

6. Raquel Rodriguez

Raquel Rodriguez has been absent for near-enough the entirety of 2024 aside from a very brief one week spell in mid-February.

Prior to her return in February, Rodriguez missed several months of action due to a condition known as Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.

While it seems likely that may be why Rodriguez is off TV currently, the latest update was her reported removal from the active roster in March.

Obviously, Rodriguez’s health comes first so she should only make a return if able to do so safely, but it sure would be great to see her back, and at such a major event like WWE SummerSlam.

Her career on the WWE main roster is deeply connected with Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley, and her return post-match could perhaps draw the next story arch for that feud.

5. Former WWE Champion Big E

Big E has not competed inside a ring since 2022 after he suffered a severe neck injury on an episode of SmackDown.

Unfortunately for the former WWE Champion, there is no timetable for his return and we do not know if he will ever step back into the squared circle.

While it seems unlikely, his New Day teammates Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods could certainly do with his help right now as they continue to be torn apart at the hands of the Final Testament.

One thing is for sure: If Big E returns at SummerSlam to help out The New Day against Karrion Kross and his buddies, the pop will be insane, but again, E’s health comes first, so if it’s not to be, it’s not to be.

4. Shane McMahon

Shane McMahon is someone who has been the subject of great speculation lately, but it has not had anything to do with a WWE return.

Instead, McMahon has been claimed to have reached out to AEW talent, potentially in view of joining the company – easily making for the most forbidden of all Forbidden Door signings.

While that would be insane, maybe his reaching out to AEW has been overblown and he instead winds up back in his home of WWE?

McMahon last appeared at WrestleMania 39 but is now no longer under contract with WWE in any form. While that may be the case now, there’s no reason why a new deal can’t be agreed, even if it’s a one-off for SummerSlam.

3. Former Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso

In a time of need, Paul Heyman could turn to the original casualty of the new Bloodline: Jimmy Uso.

Uso has been out injured since a brutal attack by The Bloodline, much like Heyman was himself, but is expected by many fans to make a return soon.

Hopefully, Jimmy is back to 100% and able to help Heyman plan his revenge against the new Bloodline.

And if he does, he most likely won’t be the only Samoan to return at WWE SummerSlam.

2. Former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns

The real Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, has got to be the hottest candidate for a SummerSlam return, with Reigns being demanded by fans ever since he left after his title loss at WrestleMania 40.

In his absence, Solo Sikoa has eliminated everyone from the Head of the Table’s old team and replaced them with dangerous warriors that Reigns never wanted.

Sikoa won’t know what’s coming when the crowd erupts in Cleveland and Reigns makes a comeback to confront him, whether it be during or after his match against Cody Rhodes.

Or at least that’s what most people expect. Which probably can’t be said for our final entry…

1. The Rock

WWE star The Rock

Despite all signs pointing to a Roman Reigns return, perhaps WWE go one step further and bring back The Final Boss along with him.

With Reigns all but certain to return as a huge babyface to feud with Solo Sikoa and the new Bloodline, one can’t help but wonder where The Rock fits in.

The Final Boss character was a breath of fresh air for Rock and WWE earlier this year, so remaining a heel is paramount. The ultimate way to get heat in this situation would be aligning himself with Sikoa rather than Reigns.

Rock could even be revealed as the mastermind behind the new Bloodline, making for an awesome twist, and one that would set up those inevitable feuds with both Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
