On the road to WrestleMania 42, there could be some significant changes and alterations to various WWE stars on the roster.
Having long established names getting a repackaging could effectively reignite some excitement around characters heading into the company’s biggest event.
Whether it be a heel turn or an overhaul of their presentation, these changes have a chance to prove stars with a new lease on life in WWE.
Here are seven WWE stars to be potentially repackaged prior to WrestleMania 42.
7. Johnny Gargano
On the January 30 edition of WWE SmackDown, Axiom defeated Johnny Gargano to regain his mask.
Ever since losing the mask as well as his DIY tag team partner Tommaso Ciampa who left the company, Gargano has fallen into a deep depression as seen in various backstage segments with his wife Candice LeRae.
The former NXT Champion looks to be in the process of undergoing a repackaging before the fans’ eyes.
Whether it be a complete character change or an attitude adjustment of some kind, Gargano seems set to introduce a new version of himself for WWE television ahead of WrestleMania 42 this April.

6. Apollo Crews
Apollo Crews recently made his return to WWE television after over a year on the shelf with a pectoral injury.
Initially making his in-ring return at Lucha Libre AAA, Crews recently stepped back in the squared circle on the February 13 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
The former Intercontinental Champion has long been one of the most underrated in-ring performers on the roster and may be in need of a new character to elevate himself up the card.
Apollo getting repackaged could help to bring some spotlight to himself and make him a contender for championship gold on the road to WrestleMania 42.

5. Matt Cardona
On the January 2 episode of SmackDown, Matt Cardona made his return to the company in a win over Kit Wilson.
Officially re-signing with the company, Cardona used the momentum from his successful run on the independent scene to get back to the home promotion he originally made a name for himself.
Despite recently making his comeback to the company, it feels like Cardona does not have a natural upward trajectory in the current landscape on SmackDown.
The former Zack Ryder might need to embrace his character from the indies as “The Indie God” to become a key player on the road to WrestleMania 42 over the next few weeks.

4. ZARIA
Fans have witnessed the ongoing drama between the duo affectionately known as ZaRuca in recent months.
While she came into WWE as an intimidating force, ZARIA has shown more of her human side throughout her friendship with Sol Ruca since the two women came together at the tailend of 2024.
Now looking like their inevitable breakup is fast approaching, ZARIA could be in line for a major change to her persona.
Whether it be a straight up heel turn or changing up her presentation to resemble how she was introduced in WWE, ZARIA feels like she needs some kind of adjustment to be accepted as the newest monster heel on the NXT women’s division again.

3. Sol Ruca
While she has been embroiled in the ongoing. storyline with ZARIA on NXT, Sol Ruca has also garnered plenty of success on the WWE main roster.
The former NXT Women’s North American Champion has proven herself with a win over Bayley on the December 13 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Ruca then went on to put on an impressive showing in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match at the titular event, making it to the final three after lasting over 50 minutes.
With recent reports indicating WWE is discussing changing her theme music and tweaking her character, Sol Ruca might undergo a repackaging before making Raw or SmackDown her permanent home in WWE.

2. Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins)
Since losing the WWE Tag Team Championships to The Wyatt Sicks in the summer of 2025, Street Profits have been absent from WWE programming.
Most recently however, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins returned at a WWE NXT live event.
Now that they are back on the road, it might be time for the company to give Ford and Dawkins a new, more consistent role on Raw or SmackDown.
In the lead up to WrestleMania 42, fans could potentially see Street Profits return as heels or under new characters that allow them to be featured once again.

1. Chad Gable
At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, “The Original” El Grande Americano made his return to the company in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match.
Ever since, “The Original” El Grande has been feuding with the current El Grande Americano as well as Los Americanos.
However, there might be better use for the man behind the mask Chad Gable.
Gable getting unmasked might lead to a repackaging of the former Olympian that allows him to finally break through to the upper echelon of the WWE roster before the company gets to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
