WWE Stars Removed From SummerSlam 2025

For the first time in its 37-year history, WWE SummerSlam will be a two-night event – taking over MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this weekend.

While the reported ticket sales for both nights and amount of hype generated in recent weeks suggest this will be one of WWE’s biggest non-Wrestlemania events ever, there are many notable names missing from the card.

Here are six WWE stars set to miss SummerSlam 2025.

6. Bianca Belair

Bianca Belair was involved in what many considered the standout match at WrestleMania 41 — the Women’s World Championship three-way with Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY.

She has not wrestled since, after suffering a significant finger injury during the match.

It was reported this week by WrestleVotes that she is nearing a return and is expected to be medically cleared soon — though not in time for SummerSlam.

In the post-SummerSlam period, the 36-year-old will clearly be back in the championship mix, whether on WWE Raw or SmackDown.

5. Bayley

Bayley on WWE Raw

Bayley was pulled from this year’s WrestleMania after suffering a storyline injury following a mysterious backstage attack, later revealed to have been carried out by the returning Becky Lynch — who went on to replace her in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match.

She returned to television by entering a three-way feud for the Women’s Intercontinental Title with Lynch and Lyra Valkyria, with the trio delivering a standout match at July’s all-women Evolution PLE.

The company appeared to be building towards a one-on-one match between Bayley and Lynch at SummerSlam, offering Bayley the chance to get revenge on the woman who cost her a spot at WrestleMania — but the decision to return to Lynch vs Valkyria has once again left Bayley off the big show.

Post-SummerSlam, this storyline frustration could very well spark another heel turn for the 36-year-old.

4. Liv Morgan

On Night One of SummerSlam, The Judgment Day’s Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez will defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against the “frenemy” duo of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.

Originally, this bout was expected to feature Liv Morgan.

Morgan suffered a shoulder injury on Raw in June and was replaced as champion by Perez — missing not only SummerSlam, but also the all-women’s PLE, Evolution, where she and Rodriguez were reportedly set for a marquee match against the reunited Bella Twins.

While the injury was unfortunate, necessitating surgery, Morgan is expected to receive a major push upon her return — likely as a babyface.

3. Travis Scott

While not a signed talent, rapper Travis Scott played a central role in WWE storylines earlier this year.

Alongside The Rock, Scott helped orchestrate John Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber, then appeared at WrestleMania to assist Cena in capturing the Undisputed Title from Cody Rhodes.

While his WrestleMania involvement proved divisive among WWE’s fanbased, there were reportedly plans for a follow-up and storyline payoff — a tag team match involving Cena and Rhodes.

However, with rumours of backstage heat on Scott, and Cena turning babyface again on the SummerSlam go-home SmackDown — even calling himself “the only platinum rapper” set to appear — it now seems unlikely Scott will appear at SummerSlam or in WWE again.

2. Ron Killings

For a week in early June, R-Truth was the most talked-about wrestler in WWE — after the company opted not to renew his contract.

Fan backlash forced WWE’s hand, and the 53-year-old was brought back with a reportedly big-money deal negotiated directly by WWE President Nick Khan.

Seemingly with lightning in a bottle, Truth dropped the comedy gimmick, returned as serious performer Ron Killings, and looked set for a major push over the summer months.

That push has not materialised, and with Killings conspicuously left off the SummerSlam card, the signs do not bode well that he features at all on one of the company’s biggest events.

1. Seth Rollins

Since joining Paul Heyman at WrestleMania 41 and forming his own faction, Seth Rollins has been the most pushed heel in WWE.

It seemed certain he was headed for a big-time match at SummerSlam.

That all appeared to change when he suffered a reported knee injury at a recent Saturday Night’s Main Event in a bout with LA Knight — seemingly ruling him out of the show entirely.

However, conflicting reports remain about the true extent of the injury, and we could still see him appear in the main event of Night One, cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on perennial foe CM Punk.
