With Rusev (Miro) being the latest star to reportedly make the jump from AEW back to WWE, there will need to be plans in place for his return.
While fans are already anticipating seeing the latest iteration of the beloved Bulgarian star back in WWE, it remains to be seen exactly how his character will play out.
Here are five potential plans for Rusev now that he is reportedly returning to WWE.
5. Feud With John Cena
Cast your mind back 10 years – it is 2015 WWE and John Cena is in a months-long feud with Rusev.
They would tangle again in 2017 during a notable ‘Flag Match’ which would mark their last showdown.
With Drew McIntyre also teasing past backstage beef with Cena from the locker room, Rusev could wage similar claims in storyline to give a motive to his current hatred.
Times were very different then and it would be incredible to see what the pair could do now.

4. Redo His AEW Feud With Andrade
There was a bright spot during Miro and Andrade El Idolo’s shared time in AEW – their brief albeit intriguing feud in late 2023.
While their two styles and intensity lent to the ability to tell a really great story, the overall narrative of their feud in AEW didn’t make a ton of sense.
With a subplot that included jealousy surrounding CJ Perry, there was a lot of promise for something that fell kind of flat in execution.
It would be very exciting to see Andrade and Rusev run it back in WWE.

3. Surprise World Heavyweight Champion After WrestleMania 41
It remains undetermined exactly who is going to be the World Heavyweight Champion after WrestleMania 41, but with either option offering incredible potential, perhaps Rusev should immediately launch into contention.
As compelling as it would be to see the returning Rusev attempting to conquer GUNTHER, it might be even more interesting to see him take on Jey Uso.
With a brand new character to bounce off of Jey’s wild popularity, the pair also have shared history in WWE which could make their showdown even more emotional.
While it might be a major leap, debuting and immediately go into contention for the World Championship – Rusev has the presence and in-ring ability to pull it off.

2. Reunite With Lana On-Screen
If it is really set to be Rusev Day once again in WWE, it would be great to see Lana back with Rusev.
In real life, the pair are back together and recently renewed their wedding vows after separating, all revealed publicly over the span of one year.
While reports that Miro had been spotted at WWE HQ were accompanied by the clarification that CJ Perry was not spotted with him, something could always come together.
Depending on the direction of Rusev’s return, it could be really entertaining to see an on-screen reunion with Lana.

1. Target WWE United States Champion On SmackDown
No matter the results of WrestleMania 41, Rusev could definitely target the WWE United States Champion on SmackDown and have an amazing feud.
While the current champion remains LA Knight, it seems that he could poised to take on Jacob Fatu and/or Braun Strowman at Mania in Las Vegas.
Any of those three taking on a returning Rusev for their next rivalry would be not only amazing but also a simple segue back into WWE.
After a promising but ultimately somewhat lackluster run by the end of his time in AEW, fans are looking forward to seeing what this latest version of Rusev can bring back to WWE.
